This is what our society fails to comprehend.
If I work as a physical therapist, and I’m good, I’ll make $100,000/yr. And pay $15,000 in taxes. I can see 60 patients per week. But that’s the end of it. No additional tax money, no more patients can get my services. I provide a living for myself and my family.
If I own a practice and employee 10 therapists that each make $100,000, now I’m providing a living for 10 families, and because of my efforts there is now $250,000 in tax revenue.
So why should businesses get taxed more? Why should they even have to pay payroll taxes? My value to society is way more than 10X at this point.
But the vast majority of Americans can’t comprehend that, neither do our congressional representatives.
“If I show up for our boys in blue, they’ll show up for us.” Honestly, that logic is air tight.
Here’s to winning our team to a W.
Also, if you go too heavy on weights, you’ll know cause your form will suffer and you risk injury, so go lighter.
“If I work out longer and harder, then my team will play better and win” is some next level delusion.
Yet here I am, vicariously willing our boys in blue to victory.
Non-ball-knower analysis:
If you’ve watched Utah play the entire year, minus Colorado, they’re scary good and every bit a #3 team.
BYU got up for ND who may be a bit overrated, but has largely shown it has deficiencies that can be exposed and cost them games.
The line at -5.5 for Utah seems too low. I’m going to get all of the BYU fans in a huff again. But based on what BYU has shown us the past 2 weeks, this game isn’t going to be a one score game.
I’m still cheering for my Cougs, but they’re going to need to play much better than they did the past 2 weeks or it could get ugly.
Round 2 of not being superstitious but being a little stitious.
Can I vicariously will our boys in blue to a victory this week by putting in extra time in the gym?
I would like to report the University of Utah to the honor code office for the things they’re going to do to BYU next week.
Our running game still needs some help.
Someone tell Kalani I have 4 years of eligibility remaining.
Maybe daylight savings can set the clock back to the time before Glasker would get trucked by freshman QBs.
If I can do it, you can do it.
I truly believe we're all MEANT FOR MORE.
Transformation is a process that isn't completed in a short time period. I don't believe there is a definitive stopping point. I think our maximum potential is a moving goalpost that will keep us on a path to continue to reach greater heights and achieve more.
Achieve a better relationship with your spouse.
Achieve greater trust and love with your children.
Achieve more productivity at work.
Achieve more gratitude in serving our community and neighbors.
Achieve a healthier body to accomplish all of these.
Physically, my appearance didn't improve dramatically this year, but it's still progress.

If I can do it, you can do it.
Transformation is a process and includes many variables. Someone (very wise) once told me a quote that I've tried to apply to myself: HOW YOU DO ONE THING IS HOW YOU DO EVERYTHING
This isn't about losing weight, it's about trying to be the best version of myself I can possibly be. The outward appearance is what people initially see, but is merely an visible representation of an inner commitment I've made to myself to be a better husband, father, business owner, boss, and be stronger spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Because how could I think I can be a good husband, but neglect my body? How could I be a good employer but neglect my children? How you do one thing, is how to do everything.
I wish other aspects of my overall progress was as easily quantifiable as physical metrics. I feel like my wife and kids would give me feedback that I continue to be a better husband and father. That my employees would report that I am a better mentor. But I guess not everything can be objective.
My physical journey is still on course.

In high school I used to be in to olympic lifting (don't you dare blaspheme it by thinking that's what crossfit is). In my young married life I shifted to power lifting cause my ego was big and I wanted to lift as much weight as possible. My body can't maintain that course and it doesn't quite fit my goals. So this last year I shifted more toward body building, eating better, and maintaining good habits.
My focuses are:
Weekly date night with my wife
Nightly walks with my wife
Better engaged with my children
Read physical books to continually learn from others
More diligent and quality scripture study
Increased protein intake
Daily gym workouts
Here's to year 3.
