Healing taught me that honesty won’t ruin a real thing, speaking on your feelings won’t lose you anything worth having, setting boundaries won’t scare off proper people, and authenticity won’t cost you genuine relationships. Remember that the next time you feel like shit about yourself because someone pulls away from you for respecting yourself, sharing your feelings, setting a boundary, and/or holding them accountable.

You want to represent? Pull up when they’re attacking Indians. Check yourselves a little when you’re complaining about Indians to your non-Indian friends. I don’t know, maybe lose a brand deal or two for actually standing for something. Then tell me you’re representing brown or black girls. Until then, you’re self-indulging and lying to everyone about what you stand for, including yourself.
Women like Lindsay Clancy and Jane Doe are representing a lot more for all of us than some girl miraculously chosen to wear a dress and walk a runaway—they’re what it means to be used by God. Check yourselves.
