📣Excited to share that I joined @InfluxDB as a Senior Software Engineer two months ago (since 1724050800), as part of the Cloud Dedicated team. After a sabbatical I’m back to tackling challenges in the database and distributed systems space and loving every moment! 🎉

💻After some years working on cloud platforms, I’ve moved back to core database engineering in January! I moved to our InfluxDB Enterprise 3 team because I missed working on DBs. It’s been an intense start, but team gave me a warm welcome and I was able to get started quickly!

🕒 THE TIME HAS COME: InfluxDB 3 Open Source public alpha is here! Today, we're releasing #InfluxDB 3 Core, our new MIT and Apache 2 licensed open source product. Core provides a high-performance recent-data engine with features including unlimited cardinality, high-speed ingest, and low cost object store, all built on the rebuilt InfluxDB 3 architecture. We're also introducing InfluxDB 3 Enterprise, a commercial product that builds on Core’s foundation designed for production environments. It adds long-range querying, read replicas, high availability, scalability, and fine-grained security. Both Core and Enterprise are easy to set up, run as a single process, and are built on the FDAP stack (Flight, DataFusion, Arrow, Parquet), delivering performance and scalability backed by over four years of development. Read more on the announcement from our Founder & CTO Paul Dix: bit.ly/4abQv9M We can’t wait to see what you build! 🚀 #OpenSource

I'm excited to announce the alpha release of #InfluxDB 3 Core, our open source version of v3 and InfluxDB 3 Enterprise. These have been years in the making and build on top of all the work we've done with Apache Arrow, DataFusion, and Parquet. Here are the highlights: InfluxDB 3 Core (Open Source) A recent-data engine optimized for the last 72 hours of time series and event data, released under MIT/Apache 2 license. Highlight features: - Diskless architecture with object storage support - Fast query response times (tens of milliseconds) - Embedded Python VM for plugins and triggers - Parquet file persistence - Compatibility with InfluxDB 1.x and 2.x write APIs InfluxDB 3 Enterprise (Commercial): Builds on Core's foundation with additional features: - Historical query capability - High availability - Read replicas - Enhanced security - Row-level delete support (coming soon) - Integrated admin UI (coming soon) We're back to iterating in public.
