The arrest follows information received by police about alleged illegal hunting activities at a farm along Vaalfontein Road in Groblersdal, Limpopo. During a search at a homestead in Monageng, police discovered a quantity of meat inside a refrigerator, which they suspected was linked to the alleged illegal hunting at the farm. According to police, two sable antelopes were allegedly caught in snares and killed by suspects on Tuesday, 21 October 2026. Further investigations led police to the farm, where they discovered two dead sable antelopes, described as old bucks, with an estimated value of R44,000. His co-accused, Malawian nationals Mike Phiri Mussa (41) and Ibrahim Zakes (36), were arrested while allegedly attempting to cross into Zimbabwe through the Beitbridge Border Post with the vehicles. Madubanya is accused of assaulting a man at Propaganda Night Club in Pretoria Central on 2 August 2026 at around 03:00. It is alleged that he struck the complainant several times with an empty bottle crate. The latest charge brings the total number of charges against Madubanya to five since his arrest on 9 October 2026. The accused have been identified as Makwela Emanuel Manamela (49), Joyce Matlala (48), Johannes Thole (44), Congress Kwena Mothiba (44), and Benjamin Chokoe (51). According to the allegations, in April 2025, a minibus transporting undocumented Zimbabwean nationals was stopped by a traffic officer, who subsequently alerted the police. The foreign nationals were reportedly supposed to be detained at the Polokwane Police Station. However, subsequent investigations revealed that they had neither been arrested nor deported to their country of origin. The five officers are facing Schedule 1 offences. The accused allegedly entered women’s homes, threatened the occupants and demanded valuables, including cellphones, laptops and money between December 2024 and January 2025 in Ga-Chuene and Ga-Maja villages. He is also alleged to have sexually assaulted minors. He allegedly took two Ga-Chuene Clinic nurses into nearby bushes, raped them before robbing them of their cellphones The postponement was due to the unavailability of the defence counsel amid the ongoing strike at Legal Aid South Africa.
