Ukrainan erikoisjoukkojen tunnuksessa esiintyy “vovkulaka”, eräänlainen heidän kansantarunsa ihmissusi. Sudella on yllään kultainen vyö, “nauz”. 🇫🇮🤝🇺🇦

Exactly four years ago today, Finnish reservists were conducting their first training session in Ukraine’s Volyn region, alongside the Ukrainian National Guard. What began as a three-man project grew into an association Lion Defence Team ry just two months later. Over the years, our team has expanded to around 60 members. In addition to training, providing material aid has become a major part of our work. We have also increasingly focused on bringing back knowledge and first-hand insights shared by Ukrainian forces fighting on the front lines. We would like to thank all our supporters for standing with us over the past four years. Our team’s commitment and determination to support Ukraine’s defenders only continue to grow. 🇫🇮🤝🇺🇦 You can support our work using the details below: IBAN: FI57 4108 0012 7371 05 MobilePay: 36289 permit: RA/2023/1562 #SupportUkraine #FinnishReservists #Ukraine #Volunteers #StandWithUkraine

🇺🇦 HELP UKRAINE — NETS TO PROTECT AGAINST DRONES! Russia’s invasion forces continue to attack Ukraine, including civilians. Protection against drone attacks is vital in cities and on the front lines. Used fishing nets collected along Finland’s Ostrobothnian coast are being repurposed to build protective barriers against drones. More than 10 tonnes of nets have now been packed and are on their way to Ukraine! 🇫🇮🤝🇺🇦 🚛 Transport costs: approximately €3,000 Want to help cover the transport costs and protect Ukrainians from drone attacks? 🇫🇮 Lion Defence Team ry – Who we are and what we do The roots of Lion Defence Team go back to October 2022, when a group of Finnish volunteer reservists travelled to Ukraine to support and train Ukrainian defenders. By December 2022, the activity had developed into what became Lion Defence Team, and in 2023 the organisation was officially registered in Finland. Strong interest among Finnish reservists also led us to open recruitment for additional instructors. Over the years, our activities have grown significantly. Alongside training, we now provide extensive material support to Ukraine, delivering for example: 🇺🇦 Drones
🚑 Vehicles
🩺 Medical supplies
⚡ Generators
🔥 Heaters
🛠️ Tools and other essential equipment Training in Ukraine remains one of the core parts of our work. Our volunteers provide training in areas including tactical medicine, first aid, explosive ordnance clearance and practical battlefield procedures. Today, an increasingly important part of our work is also the exchange of battlefield knowledge in both directions. From Ukraine, we receive up-to-date information on what tactics, procedures and solutions actually work under real frontline conditions, as well as practical information on the needs for combat first aid and other equipment. Because our instructors are active Finnish reservists, this firsthand knowledge also reaches the wider Finnish reservist community. One of our greatest strengths is our direct connection to Ukraine. We do not simply collect aid in Finland — Finnish volunteers personally deliver it to Ukraine and work directly with our Ukrainian partners. Today, Lion Defence Team operates with around 60 volunteers. Training teams are deployed to Ukraine regularly, and material deliveries continue. 💙💛 One thing has remained unchanged throughout the years: the will to help through practical action. Lion Defence Team is an independent Finnish volunteer organisation. Our activities are funded through donations, and our volunteers receive no salaries or daily allowances. Every donation, every hour given by a volunteer and every piece of equipment delivered to Ukraine helps make this work possible. 🇫🇮➡️🇺🇦 From Finland to Ukraine — practical support, training and knowledge.
