CNN was scheduled to be today’s TV pool. But the White House blocked us from being allowed in for the president’s event in the Oval Office that’s now underway. That means none of the five networks will have audio or video of his remarks.

There’s a reason James Talarico won Texas by nearly twice the margin that Abdul El-Sayed won Michigan. Unlike Abdul, he’s not a dick. He wasn’t on the campaign trail—even when Republicans lied and called him a gay, mentally ill, vegan freak—and he wasn’t in resounding victory. And to the extent he used to pay lip service to woke nonsense, he was willing to move away from that gobbledygook this time around. He’s good at politics. He doesn't resent this country. I think his future is much brighter than El-Sayed’s, despite coming from a much redder state.
CNN asks James Talarico if he will stand up to Abdul El-Sayed

I grew up a preacher’s kid, and as an adult, I, along with many other millennials, distanced myself from Christianity because of changing personal beliefs AND also because of how revolting it was to see religion be co-opted as a tool of oppression and bigotry and hate it is refreshing to see somebody giving voice to the side of religion that is good and wholesome and worth aspiring to

A huge thank you to former Governor Beasley and former Governor Hodges of SC, who came together in unity to show SC that electing someone to serve us well was a wise choice! I am so proud of their continued leadership that helped elect Dr Annie Andrews!

It may have been my name on the ballot, but of course, this victory is for everyone here in South Carolina.

Four years ago, Pres. Biden nominated Scott Colom to serve as a federal judge in Mississippi. Mississippi Republican Senator Roger Wicker supported the nomination of Mr. Colom. The state's other senator, Cindy Hyde-Smith, refused to do so based on absurd claims. Mr. Colom reached to Sen. Hyde-Smith to address her concerns and respectfully point out misunderstandings on her part and appeal to her better angels. Other prominent Mississippi Republicans reached out to Sen. Hyde-Smith asking her to reconsider and support Mr. Colom's nomination. She still refused, effectively killing his nomination for no good reason. She's now on the verge of losing her seat to Scott Colom, who would have never been a threat if she had supported his judicial nomination.

To give you a sense of how awesome @GinaHinojosaTX is, she was the original sponsor of a resolution to call for a convention to get money out of politics. She was against corruption before it was cool to be. I have a lot of respect for her.

I rarely talk about what January 6 cost me and my family. The friendships, the threats, the party I once called home. But today, I feel something I haven't felt in years. Vindication. We refused to bow to Trump. We paid a price. And last night, America roared back. This one's personal.

When we pray for the dead, we do so not only for them, but also with them, drawn into a reciprocal relationship that the Holy Spirit brings to life in our hearts. The Church is a mystery of communion between Christ, our head, and us, His members: from Him we receive life. This communion unites the blessed souls who already contemplate the face of God and all those who, in heaven or on earth, are journeying toward the radiant destination.

“This is the most hopeful thing I think I've seen in America in 20 years.” JVL reflects on James Talarico's victory and why his message of loving your neighbor offers a powerful alternative to Christian nationalism and the politics of Trump.

I wrote this in March and MAGA evangelicals treated it like heresy. Yet it's exactly what I heard time and again in Texas, from Texas Christians. nytimes.com/2026/03/08/opini… "Talarico is one of the few openly Christian politicians in the United States who acts like a Christian, and by acting like a Christian, he reveals a profound contrast with so many members of the MAGA Christian movement that’s dominated American political life for 10 years."

Credit where credit is due — Christie absolutely unloading on JD standing behind what Vivek did. This feels cathartic.
