If you're working with fabric as valuable as this, you don't want to waste any of it. This velvet @palazzomadamato is a great example of piecing and features in my talk next Thursday @WallaceMuseum for #WomensHistoryMonth, in person & online.

Has anyone ordered images from Italian museums/archives recently? It looks as though, following a decree in April, there is a fee to reproduce all images if the cover price of your publication is more than €0! 😬

Searching for images @NationalGallery and came across this early twentieth-century painting masquerading as a Renaissance portrait. It was recognised as a fake by 1951, maybe with the help of some dress historians.

Early morning view of the #Donatello exhibition at V&A. Reminder of just how radical his work must have seemed in the 1430s and how brave those commissioning the new style would have been at the time. Bravo Prato cathedral....and many others....
