A Japanese civil-society delegation visited the Unit 731 exhibition hall and former sites in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province on Oct. 28.
Standing before evidence of the Japanese army's wartime atrocities, delegation members expressed deep remorse and called for the truth of history to be passed on to younger generations.
"Friendship between China and Japan ... must be built on a correct understanding of history," said the delegation's head, Takakage Fujita.
