I’m trying to connect with other #dyslexic researchers Finding work arounds is the disabled experience. By connecting as dyslexic researchers we could share strategies so we don’t each need to start at square 1. (Pls share so more dyslexic researchers may find this & respond)

I always try my hardest to remember that there is no one tool, trick, or strategy that's going to help everyone. Learning to cope with ADHD, autism, or any other neurodivergence is even more about learning about yourself and your experience than it is strategies and tools

Universal healthcare is under attack through insidious forms of privatization, as well as the deliberate undervaluing of medical professionals. It’s quite literally a life & death issue, so why is media fixating on wait times at the airport instead of at hospitals and clinics?

A word about language. •I have dyslexia •I'm dyslexic •I'm a dyslexic •I'm a dyslexic person •I'm a person with dyslexia Someone somewhere, identifies with one, some, or all of them. It's not our job to tell them they're wrong. We want inclusivity, we start being inclusive. – at York, England

SIMPLE June 14: Welfare pays "up to" $723 a month in Ontario. Wonder why folk live in parks? That's why. When I was a homeless teen on welfare in Ontario welfare paid for a basement apartment and food so I could go to school. People didn't live in parks

I love the term ‘estimated spelling’ instead of ‘invented spelling’. A thoughtful guess, based on what we’ve learned and what we know about spelling patterns.
Replying to @ReadingShanahan
I understand the research term is "invented spelling". With students I prefer "estimated spelling". Aligns with "estimation" in math. We actually do not want high creativity in spelling! Art, music, yes. Are you unsure about the spelling? PLEASE do your very best ESTIMATION!

Don't let anyone tell you that you need post-secondary educ in order to be a politician. It may help but its not a prerequisite. You need strong listening skills, critical thinking, organizing abilities, passion, empathy for your community. The rest you can learn or get support.

This day in 1954, Alan Turing took his life by his own hand, driven to death by society’s inability to accept a different form of sexuality. He invented the modern computer. Whatever device you are reading this on, came from his genius. #PrideMonth
