Congrats to @AIatMeta on tracking and releasing the carbon footprint estimation for Llama 3! 🌎
Also a good reminder that even with current optimization approaches, this is orders of magnitude more than previous generations of models (eg 100T for BLOOM, 540T for Llama 2) 🫠

A post @toniatigre, @NataliaUrzola and I wrote on #gender in the #klimaseniorinnen case - we argue that while the @ECHR_CEDH acknowledges gender as a concern it fails to recognise how gender shapes individual experiences of #climate harm

It's long been a question: could all of humanity actually live within the Doughnut? Thanks to Hauke Schlesier et al it's just been quantified for the 1st time. And the answer is probably yes - if we transform to economies of sufficiency. Read more here: sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

The result of a two year project: an interdisciplinary team proposes the #PlanetaryCommons as a new approach to safeguarding earth’s critical biophysical systems in @PNASNews. A pleasure to have co-led this with @jrockstrom! @RIFS_Potsdam @ESG_Project
Tipping elements of the Earth system should be considered #GlobalCommons, researchers argue in a new paper. To limit risks for human societies & secure critical Earth system functions they propose a new framework of #PlanetaryCommons: pik-potsdam.de/en/news/lates…
Very happy to have contributed to this multidisciplinary work on the law and governance of short-lived climate pollutants. My chapter considers how the global regulation of HFCs (a greenhouse gas) could be strengthened under the Montreal Protocol.

Courts are becoming planetary actors and Anthropocene institutions in their own right through their role in climate litigation. They are increasingly relevant for #EarthSystemLaw as we argue in this new OA paper: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/… @ESG_Project @SabinCenter @ESG_LawTF
