Trump ran on cutting taxes. But once tariffs are counted, his policies are raising taxes and costs this year for every income group except the richest 1%, per a new report from the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy. The reason: tariffs, which are largely passed on to consumers as higher prices, outweigh the tax cuts for most Americans. Even the right-leaning Tax Foundation calls the tariffs the largest U.S. tax increase as a share of GDP since 1993.

Mortgage lenders will lose far more during the developing mortgage crisis than they did during all of the GFC. From 2007–2010, realized losses on defaulted mortgages totaled about $450 billion. There is currently about $8.3 trillion in outstanding fixed-rate mortgages with an average rate of 4.6% and 25 years left to maturity. Given that current rates are 7.5%, the mark-to-market losses on those mortgages are already about $2 trillion. When rates rise to 8.5%, the loss will rise to $3 trillion! That means even without a single default, on paper mortgage lenders have already lost over four times more than they lost during the GFC. That loss will grow to nearly seven times as much when mortgage rates hit 8.5%. Worse, during the GFC, since mortgage rates plunged, lenders had mark-to-market gains on all the outstanding mortgages that did not default. Since only 10% of the mortgages defaulted, those unrealized gains totaled about $1.75 trillion. That provided a huge cushion that today's mortgage lenders no longer have. In fact, when mark-to-market gains were taken into account, mortgage lenders actually made $1.3 trillion during the GFC. The current situation is therefore orders of magnitude worse. The impending disaster was created by the Federal Reserve holding interest rates so low for so long, and the FHA and GSEs guaranteeing 30-year fixed-rate mortgages, which allowed borrowers to lock in such low rates for such long durations. That sowed the seeds for the perfect storm of financial destruction that is about to hit.

You could tell that the “I’d win any case with money” really provoked him and made him change his mind 🍿🎥
It’s crazy how a movie/series can feel complete the first time you watch it. Every scene, every motive, every ending locked into one interpretation. But when you watch the same movie/series years later, it rearranges itself. The characters mean something else. The ending lands differently. What once felt obvious now feels incomplete. The Death Of The Author was never just about books. It applies to films too. Once the work is out in the world, the director’s intention recedes, and the meaning now depends on the viewer: how they interpret it, and how much knowledge and life experience they bring to it.

Everyone called me nuts for wanting an audit of the $FNMA $FMCC common trades. @michaeljburry and @BillAckman pumped those stocks and made money off the unsuspecting retail investor. Now Burry is telling you they’re worthless a few months later. AUDIT TIME.

I think Super Intelligence will lower costs in title, mortgage insurance, credit bureaus, scores, and way more. Some of these companies, I think, will not survive with their ridiculous pricing and marginal value add. This will be of benefit to Americans! AMERICA FIRST!!!

Is this accurate about Experian and the Credit Bureaus? “The credit reporting bureaus have increased the price of credit reports by 400% over the past decade, they've simultaneously off-shored their workforce. Some 73% of Experian employees, for example, are outside the U.S., according to BAC.”

This will help keep spread tight but unfortunately the yield will continue to rise especially as oil rises. Bessent buying Treasuries isn’t doing anything as the market doesn’t like/trust the US debt and wants higher yields which means higher mortgage rates. Here’s an idea which will have direct impact on CJ sumer. 1. Increase the allowable seller concessions on conventional from 3% to 9%on owner occupied and investment. 2. Proviide a tax deduction to sellers who provide concession 3. Allow concessions to be used towards buying down rate/closing costs / or paying off buyers debt(which is currently allowed on VA program Concessions have more impact on lowering payments than does a $10,000 price reduction

30-year 7.17% Mortgage accelerates USA renter nation phenomenon. Persistent higher rates crush home sales, prevents new construction loans resulting in declining new supplies. This will mean higher prices & higher rents going forward. Home owners that have to sell will forfeit their equity & those that don’t will do nothing. Until existing homes sell you will not see lower prices. Bad for homebuyers, bad for home sellers, terrible for builders and good for landlords.
