🦠EPIDEMIC RESPONSE: Strengthening Ebola Virus Screening. We’ve received thermal scanners to strengthen screening at key border entry points as Uganda steps up efforts to prevent the spread of Ebola into the country. The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Diana Atwine, received the equipment from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) at the Ministry’s HQs today, in the presence of the Director General of Health Services, Prof. Charles Olaro. As part of these efforts, Dr. Atwine also conducted a spot inspection at Entebbe International Airport to assess screening arrangements, identify possible gaps and reinforce strict public health screening procedures. #MOHatWork

Today, together with colleagues from the Kingdom leadership, I had the honour of meeting with the Vice Chancellor of Mountains of the Moon University, @MMU_Uganda Professor Pius Amooti Achanga @Pius_Achanga and his team. Our discussions centred on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which provides a framework for deeper collaboration between the University and Tooro Kingdom in research, education and skills development, particularly in agriculture, tourism and environmental sciences. A key area of focus is expanding educational opportunities for the people of Tooro, including exploring scholarship opportunities for deserving and talented young people. We also discussed the University’s potential to support the Kingdom’s broader development agenda through research, environmental conservation, tourism development, community enterprise, cultural heritage preservation and community development. The opportunities that can come from this relationship are countless, and this partnership is long overdue. By bringing together the University’s knowledge and expertise with the Kingdom’s development priorities, we can create meaningful opportunities for our young people and contribute to a more prosperous and sustainable Tooro. I look forward to seeing this partnership move from commitment to action.

I am honoured to represent the Kingdom of Tooro and to visit a university that is a great source of pride for our Kingdom, providing quality tertiary education and creating valuable employment opportunities for our people. The opportunities that can arise from a stronger relationship between the Kingdom and the university are countless. This is a partnership whose time has truly come, and one that is long overdue. I look forward with great anticipation to being part of this historic occasion and to exploring how we can build a lasting relationship that benefits our people, our institutions and the wider Kingdom of Tooro.
Tomorrow, Friday, 16th October 2026, we will host the Prime Minister of Tooro Kingdom, Owek. Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, and his delegation at Mountains of the Moon University’s Lake Saaka Campus for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MMU and Tooro Kingdom. Through this partnership, we look forward to strengthening collaboration in promoting Tooro’s rich cultural heritage, advancing the development and welfare of its people, and exploring future opportunities that will contribute to the growth of Tooro and the wider region. UNAIDS helped found the GIPA principle, putting the meaningful involvement of people living with HIV at the heart of the HIV response. Florence Riako Anam (@floriako), Co-Executive Director of @gnpplus, reflects on how UNAIDS has helped turn that principle into practice, supporting people living with and affected by HIV to have a voice in governance, decision-making and policy, from global to country level.

You stopped the Genocide against the Tutsi, and the world remained silent. You made Kigali a safe, clean, and beautiful city, and they thought it was easy. You built the Kigali Convention Centre, and they thought that was the limit. You built Kigali Arena, and they thought that was as far as Rwanda could go. You transformed Amahoro Stadium, and they said other countries had bigger stadiums. You brought the UCI Cycling World Championships to Rwanda 🚴‍♂️🌍, and they said, “It’s just cycling.” Now, you brought Formula One in Rwanda and the whole world is paying attention. 🏎️🔥 Again and again, Rwanda has shown that Africa can dream big, organize boldly, and compete on the global stage. Thank you, President Paul Kagame, for making Rwanda proud and putting Africa’s potential in the global spotlight. 🇷🇼🌍 Your vision and Rwanda’s journey remind us that greatness is not determined by the size of a country, but by the ambition, determination, and hard work of its people.

ReNew Conference 2026 held at Trent Vineyard in Nottingham, under the theme “Lord, Teach Us to Pray,” was a tremendous success! When God’s people humble themselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from their wicked ways, He promises to hear, forgive, and heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14). Lord, send revival! 🙏 #ReNew2026 #Prayer #Revival

Yesterday I had the privilege of preaching at St Mark’s Mitcham on “The Power of Prayer.” Later, my wife and I joined worship at @HTClapham, once the spiritual home of the Clapham Sect. Led by William Wilberforce, these late-18th and early-19th-century evangelical reformers fought to end the slave trade, advanced social reform, and promoted Christian missions, including Henry Venn (a founder of the Church Missionary Society) and his grandson John Venn. A powerful reminder of how faith and prayer can transform society.
