I was just laid off by The Washington Post in the middle of a warzone. I have no words. I'm devastated.
Waking up without power, heat, or running water. (Again.) But the work here in Kyiv continues. Warming up in the car, writing in pencil — pen ink freezes — by headlamp. Despite how difficult this job can be, I am proud to be a foreign correspondent at The Washington Post.

This is a complicated case, with a LOT of files, so I know it's easy to confuse what's what. What Stephen doesn't understand is that the emails released Wednesday are from Epstein's estate. They were obtained from Epstein's lawyers pursuant to a subpoena that was issued by the House Oversight Committee (lawmakers). These documents are separate from the criminal case files held by the DOJ and the FBI that Trump and Bondi promised to release after the election. (more)

As a working class person in journalism, it troubles me how tough it still is for working class people to break into the trade. So I'm freeing up some time in my calendar for chats with aspirant working class journalists.

I wrote about the cruel consequences of America's aging prison population. Why are we forcing older people to spend their dying years in prison when they can get better care elsewhere? vox.com/the-highlight/241199…

A 4.8 magnitude earthquake hit west of Manhattan and has been felt throughout New York. My team is assessing impacts and any damage that may have occurred, and we will update the public throughout the day.

Justice Alito is fixated on the idea that *someone* has to be able to sue. #SCOTUS has rejected the "someone must have standing" approach to Article III standing consistently since 1973.

Heads up: This is the strategy. They don't need to win Congress. They just need to win the presidency and then the new DOJ can prioritize the enforcement of the Comstock Act (a law that was enacted in 1873 and has been unenforced, tho still on the books, for much of our lives).

UPDATE: Looks like Judge Cannon has changed her mind and will allow the Government to respond to the defense's arguments to dismiss based on unconstitutional vagueness and then have the Defense do rebuttal. [Which is the normal and usual way to do things]
Replying to @KatiePhang
IMO: it's odd Cannon isn't tackling one motion at a time, allowing the defense to argue first, then have the Government respond, and then the defense getting up for rebuttal argument. With what she's doing today, it runs the risk of things getting all jumbled & disorganized. 🙄

First, it likely *will* at least reduce the frequency of them if litigants can’t hand-pick the most ideologically sympathetic judge they can find. Second, if there’s still work to do (and there is), it’s too bad that McConnell isn’t part of a body that has the power to do more.
McConnell seems opposed to Judicial Conference move to end practice of judge shopping, calling it “an unforced error” “It won’t solve the issues caused by nationwide injunctions,” he argues

Follow along for the hearing in the Mar-a-Lago case
Trump is present in court with Todd Blanche, Chris Kise, & Emil Bove. Walt Nauta & his counsel are present. Carlos de Oliveira is not there, but has two lawyers present. Special Counsel Jack Smith is present on behalf of the Government, joined by Jay Bratt and David Harbach.

1. Earlier this month, a mysterious woman appeared before a school board in Texas and claimed that, when she was 11, she READ A SCHOLASTIC BOOK THAT SPARKED A DEBILITATING PORN ADDICTION. We investigated. And it's ABSOLUTELY WILD what is happening. 🧵
