Community Policing in Montgomery County: We Want to Hear from You Montgomery County Community Policing Bills 33-19 and 45-20 highlight important legislative findings, establish clear guidelines for community policing, and require the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) to publish annual statistical data reports. As part of Bill 45-20, MCPD also conducts a yearly anonymous survey of residents and officers to better understand police-community relations and gauge public trust in law enforcement. The results of this survey, along with other required data, will be published in the Police Statistical Data Report in early 2027. Your voice matters. MCPD invites you to participate in the 2026 Community Trust Survey to help us better serve our communities. The survey takes just 1–2 minutes to complete and is available in English, Spanish, and Chinese. 🗓 Survey open: Until October 20th 📷 Access the survey: 2026 Community Trust Survey forms.cloud.microsoft/g/mNck… Thank you for helping us build stronger, more trusted community relationships. #MCPNews #MCPD

One officer spoke with the driver. Another spotted what was near his feet. During a traffic stop in Germantown on September 18, 2026, officers from the 3rd District and 5th District Community Action Team worked together to locate a handgun on the floorboard of a gray BMW. The driver was arrested. A search of the vehicle also yielded a large quantity of controlled dangerous substances, cash and items consistent with possession with intent to distribute. The video shows two body-worn camera views from a stop involving multiple officers. Watch how their observations came together. #MCPNews #MCPD

Can't outrun the drone 😎
Montgomery County Department of Police
@mcpnewsSep 17
One pursuit turns into a foot chase. Another unfolds on the road. In both cases, the Drone as First Responder program gives officers an aerial view of the situation, helping them track what’s happening and get eyes where they’re needed. This is real-time technology working alongside our officers when seconds matter. #MCPNews #MCPD #DroneZone

This was a great example of dedication by the officers and the investigator from your @mcpnews 3rd District. What started as an arrest grew to much more.... Technology (cameras) + good old fashioned police work. #MCPD

More than 80 victims. Thousands of dollars in damage. Countless hours spent following leads and searching for answers. Detectives worked through the details, connected the thefts to one suspect and ultimately made an arrest. The arrest was one moment. The investigation is the story. #MCPNews #MCPD #TheftFromAuto
