EVs are becoming more than a way to get from point A to point B. They can also provide backup power for homes and help support the energy grid.
Automakers and technology partners are expanding these capabilities:
• @Ford Motor Company is enabling select F-150 models to power parts of a home during an outage.
• @Kia America is helping eligible vehicle owners access backup power and send energy back to the grid through its collaboration with Wallbox.
• @GM and @WeaveGrid are connecting eligible GM EV drivers with utility programs that support grid reliability, while providing vehicle-to-home backup power during outages.
With more than 630,000 vehicles in the U.S. already estimated to offer this functionality, these advancements are extending the benefits of driving electric beyond the road and opening new possibilities for how EVs can support drivers, their homes and the energy grid.

🌳 Maryland is growing stronger, one Tree City at a time.
As Tree City USA celebrates its 50th anniversary, we're proud to recognize the communities across Maryland that continue to invest in healthier, greener neighborhoods. In 2025, 52 Maryland communities earned Tree City USA recognition for their commitment to urban and community forestry.
Together, these communities made an incredible impact:
🌿 43,542 trees planted
🙋 More than 100,000 volunteer hours dedicated to community forestry
💚 Nearly $48 million invested in local trees and forests
🏡 78% of Marylanders now live in a Tree City USA community
By strengthening urban and community forests through programs like Tree City USA, Maryland communities are helping create cooler neighborhoods, cleaner air, healthier watersheds, and a more resilient future. Every tree planted is an investment in the health of our communities and the generations that will follow.
