Mettur Lift Irrigation Project (MLIP) in Tamil Nadu is a major water management initiative designed to divert nearly 555 million cubic feet of surplus floodwater from Mettur Dam to the elevated tanks and ponds of the Sarabanga basin in Salem district. Featuring three pumping stations and 19 pumping units, the system lifts 214 cusecs of water against a head of 139 metres, rejuvenating over 100 tanks and ponds.
