I know, right? Who would have thought that getting the NSF grant was the easy part?

As my mother (who has raised two professors) often reminds me, a Ph.D. means knowing more and more about less and less
Thanks @thelonglab! Good idea to ping @alejandroadem

For the first time ever, I am formally appealing a grant rejection from @NSERC_CRSNG. They declined my grant on an absurd technicality that honestly I would never have expected from @NSERC_CRSNG, a funding agency I respect and have worked hard for 1/n
@NSERC_CRSNG champions EDI but then I run afoul of a policy that requires me to collaborate only with scientists at the most traditional of institutions (universities) in order to access funding? How is this inclusive? 14/n
Finally, I haven't been on Twitter/whatever this site is now. Because reasons. But this seems like something my @eebtoronto and 🇨🇦 colleagues should know before applying for @NSERC_CRSNG Alliance International grants 15/n
We miss you and your microbes already
My microbes and I have moved! I officially started as a postdoc in the @George_diCenzo lab @QueensUBio this month. Excited to be continuing my work on legume-rhizobium interactions while learning some new molecular biology techniques 😀
New from me and lab member Chris Carlson (not on Twitter): a short commentary on a great paper by Brendan Epstein @LianaBurghardt @TheBadMutualist @grillolab @TuomasHamala and more! 🧵1/3
An emerging view of coevolution in the legume-rhizobium mutualism. doi.org/10.1111/mec.17055
Lots of interest right now in how coevolution works between hosts and microbes. This study fails to find genomic signatures of the kinds of selection that would be consistent with antagonistic coevolution between symbiont 'cheating' and host 'control' 2/3
