The victory of Brazil President Lula for the 4th term. Is nothing but a democratic dictatorship. It is to me a facade of an election. I support a system that allows voting by citizens, but when that system is screwed to continue to favour 1 man to stay in power. It's a cheat code. – at Accra, Ghana

The sad problem with person's like you and your likes is that, you still think big grammar can save you in this Gen-Z era. You can write thesis as long and as short as you can. None, would save your dangerous political party call NPP and your harram candidate Bawumia. – at Accra, Ghana
Kofi Bentil’s central point is sound. Being Vice-President and chairman of the Economic Management Team did not make Bawumia the Finance Minister. Yet people who understand how government works keep treating that distinction as an excuse invented for his benefit. Ghana had a President vested with executive authority and a Finance Minister with specific statutory duties. Under section 4 of the Public Financial Management Act, the Finance Minister is responsible for preparing the budget, implementing fiscal policy and managing government debt, subject to Cabinet’s policy guidance. Bawumia’s economic qualifications and chairmanship of the EMT did not transfer those responsibilities to him. The familiar response is that Akufo-Addo chose him because he was an economist and presented him as someone who would help fix the economy. That certainly raised expectations. Bawumia’s own speeches and assurances raised them further. Ghanaians were entitled to judge him against those expectations. But a campaign statement, however emphatic, does not change who holds authority in government. Then comes the second comeback: “You gave him credit for the good, so take the bad.” Look at the achievements for which he was credited: the Ghana Card rollout, mobile money interoperability, the digital address system and paperless ports. These were identifiable initiatives associated with his leadership, delivered through the relevant institutions. His contribution to each can be examined, including whether the credit claimed was deserved. What does not follow is that leading those projects gave him control over every borrowing, spending and taxation decision. Article 60 provides for functions assigned to the Vice-President by the Constitution or the President. The scope of those functions matters. Responsibility for a digital project does not establish authority over the national budget. Throughout the crisis years, Ken Ofori-Atta occupied the office with direct responsibility for public finances. The Finance Ministry’s statutory duties were substantial, and the Minority recognised their significance. In November 2022, it moved a censure motion against him, expressly alleging economic mismanagement. That does not absolve everyone else, but it makes it difficult to treat the Finance Minister’s responsibility as incidental whenever the discussion turns to Bawumia. Bentil’s comparison with Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang asks a reasonable question. Would her position as Vice-President, by itself, establish that she controls fiscal policy? Or would we first examine her assigned responsibilities and distinguish them from those of the President and Finance Minister? Different assignments may justify different assessments. The standard of evidence should remain the same. Bawumia was a Cabinet member, chaired the EMT and defended the government’s economic record. Cabinet membership was consequential: Article 76 places the Vice-President in the body that assists the President in determining government policy. But it did not make his powers interchangeable with those of the President or Finance Minister. If he advocated a damaging policy, identify it and examine his role. Where his advice contributed to a bad decision, establish that contribution. That is a stronger argument than repeatedly invoking his economics qualifications and chairmanship of the EMT as though either automatically placed the national purse in his hands. The question is not whether Bawumia had influence. It is whether his influence through the EMT, together with his leadership of digital projects, made him primarily responsible for the fiscal and debt decisions that produced the crisis. The government’s allocation of authority matters, as do the EMT’s remit and the decisions he actually shaped. Those seeking to collapse the distinction between his role and the Finance Minister’s must establish the connection with evidence. They cannot simply assume it away.

Hello Mr @kbentil ,come commot your mouth. Just do not come muddy it more with some voodoo explanations. We are Gen-Z, not some pre-Gold Coast brain generation. Warning: Don't even start with his Deputy governorship position as your reference point 😆 . – at Tema, Ghana
This jagged guy yesterday made a wild claim that his Manchurian candidate, Bawumia, has 20 years of experience in governance. Me: NPP has governed this country for 16years, so where exactly did Bawumia get the 20 years of experience from?

President John Dramani Mahama arrived in the historic city of Gondar, Ethiopia, on Friday for an official visit at the invitation of Ethiopian Prime Minister H.E. Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali. The visit comes ahead of the 12th Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa, to be held in Bahir Dar. Shortly after arriving at Gondar Airport, President Mahama joined the Prime Minister to switch on the Megech Irrigation Development Project, a massive dam-and-reservoir infrastructure designed to transform agriculture and water supply in the region. The ambitious project, which began 18 years ago, stalled until Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali revived it three years ago and completed it. Spanning 870 hectares with a storage capacity of 185 million cubic metres, the Megech Dam is set to have a profound socio-economic impact. It will support irrigation of 17,000 hectares of agricultural land, significantly bolstering food security and productivity. In addition, the facility will provide a reliable supply of clean, potable water to the city of Gondar and its surrounding satellite towns. President Mahama commended the Government and people of Ethiopia for their resilience and dedication in delivering a transformative project that will serve generations to come. President Mahama will travel to Bahir Dar on Saturday to chair the 12th Tana High-Level Forum, where African leaders, policymakers, and security experts will discuss pressing peace, governance, and security challenges across the continent. #MahamaInEthiopia
