WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS PROGRAM - Verified DI mid-major with three NCAA Regionals and multiple WAC championships under Christiansen - Active MLB alumni pipeline (Hoskins, Outman, Lukes, Long, Adams among recent big-leaguers) - Three 2025 MLB Draft picks; athletics cites 19 consecutive seasons with a Hornet drafted or signed pro (since 2007) - Signature 2026 upsets: series win at No. 2 LSU; first-ever win over No. 1 (UCLA, 9–6) - Fresh conference chapter: full Big West membership as of July 1, 2026 - Capital-city campus with a deep NorCal high-school footprint on roster WHY IT COULD BE INTERESTING FOR A HIGH-SCHOOL PLAYER - Stay close to home: Sacramento-area and broader NorCal HS players see teammates from familiar prep programs every year - Development + exposure: Christiansen’s staff has a documented history of turning Hornets into All-WAC, All-America, and draftable players - Compete up: Non-conference schedules have included national powers; 2026 proved the ceiling is real - Next chapter in the Big West: Joining a California-heavy baseball conference raises the weekly competition and visibility for 2027 and beyond - Realistic mid-major path: Play meaningful DI baseball, chase conference titles, and stay on a roster that scouts already know how to find NorCal HS players: this one’s in your backyard. #StingersUp #SacStateBaseball #MidMajor #RelianceBaseball #DiamondMatchAi #CollegeBaseball #NorCalBaseball #BigWest

DAY 23 OF 30: SACRAMENTO STATE HORNETS If you play high-school baseball in Northern California and you’re scanning Division I mid-majors that actually develop big-league talent without asking you to disappear across the country, Sacramento State belongs on the short list. The Hornets call John Smith Field home — a 1,200-seat on-campus ballpark in Sacramento where home plate hasn’t moved since the park opened in 1953. Lights arrived in 2016. It’s not a Power conference palace; it’s a working college baseball environment in the capital city, minutes from the freeways that feed Roseville, Folsom, Rocklin, Concord, and the rest of the Sacramento–Bay Area talent corridor. Head coach Reggie Christiansen enters the Big West era as one of California’s most durable DI builders. Named head coach for 2011, he completed his 16th season at the helm in 2026. Under him the program has claimed three WAC regular-season titles (2012, 2014, 2025), three WAC tournament titles (2014, 2017, 2019), and three NCAA Regional appearances. Official athletics materials credit him with mentoring multiple All-Americans and Freshman All-Americans, and with 28 MLB Draft selections (plus free-agent signees) since he took over. Five former Hornets have reached the majors under his watch: Rhys Hoskins, Sam Long, James Outman, Nathan Lukes, and Travis Adams (Adams debuted with Minnesota in July 2025). Recent results back the résumé. In 2025 Sacramento State went 32–26 and 15–9 in the WAC, sharing the regular-season title — Christiansen’s third Coach of the Year honor in the league. Three Hornets were drafted that July: Carson Latimer (12th round, Cincinnati), JP Smith (17th, Minnesota), and Kade Brown (20th, Athletics). Brown earned NCBWA third-team All-America recognition as a closer. 2026 was the program’s final WAC season before the Big West move. The Hornets finished 29–32 overall and 10–8 in conference (tied for third), then made their first WAC Tournament title-game appearance since 2019. Along the way they punched above the bracket: they took two of three at then-No. 2 LSU in March, and on April 26 they beat No. 1 UCLA 9–6 at Jackie Robinson Stadium — the program’s first win over a No. 1-ranked team. They also notched the program’s 1,000th Division I victory (vs. UT Arlington, April 17). Look at the 2026 roster and the NorCal story writes itself. Locals and near-locals dotted the lineup — Rio Americano, Folsom, Granite Bay, McClatchy, Bella Vista, Oakmont, Clayton Valley, De La Salle, Berkeley, Colusa, Woodland, Stockton, and more — alongside JC and transfer talent. Freshman Roseville product Trevor Wilson closed the UCLA win. That geographic footprint matters for a HS player who wants DI reps without leaving the region that raised him. As of July 1, 2026, Sacramento State is a full Big West member. For baseball, that means a California-centric league schedule and a clearer recruiting map against programs HS prospects already know by name. The Hornets are not promising anyone a draft slot or a conference title. What they can show is a verified track record: sustained WAC contention, recent draft volume, active MLB alumni, and a coaching staff that has already proven it can beat the best teams in the country on the right day. 🧵👇

DAY 20 OF 30 — UW-MILWAUKEE 5–23 start. Horizon champs. Beat No. 4 Auburn. Regional final. Wisconsin’s only DI baseball program just reminded everyone what mid-major May baseball can look like — first NCAA trip since 2010, first multi-win regional ever, and a walk-off Horizon title along the way. Alum HC Shaun Wegner. Franklin Field. MLB names like Varsho and Blubaugh. Two more Panthers drafted in 2026. If you’re a HS player who wants a Midwest DI stage that still crashes the NCAA bracket… put Milwaukee on the list. #30MidMajors #CollegeBaseball #UWMilwaukee #HorizonLeague #RelianceBaseball

DAY 19 OF 30: ST. JOHN’S UNIVERSITY Queens. BIG EAST. From 1–10 to Super Regionals. In 2026 the Red Storm won the BIG EAST regular season and tournament, stormed Tallahassee as a No. 4 seed, beat No. 10 Florida State to win the regional, and finished a consensus Top-25 team under Coach Mike Hampton. Two Johnnies heard their names in the MLB Draft.
