Here's an #Americorps climate corps position in forestry, starting this summer, focused on assisted migration. Very hands-on, great practical experience for an early career person.

Floating islands of invasive cattails! Cookie cutters! Muskrat experiments! If you're not watching today's @MNForestEd webinar with @TheBeaverDoctor what are you even doing with your life? (Don't worry, they'll post a recording, but it just wasn't the same without you.)
ALT A muskrat swimming. It's pretty cute.

Interested in recreational trail design? We've got a few copies left of an excellent @UMNExtNR publication authored by Mel Baughman. Probably won't reprint when the last 30 are gone: bookstores.umn.edu/product/b…

Talking about timber sale design for wildlife habitat today in McGregor. Great group of loggers and resource managers, presenters from @mnforestry and @mndnr Wildlife, Aitkin County Land Dept.
Other key concepts from today:
-Differences in value of habitat attributes at different ownerships & forest conditions.
-Edge effects, esp on small harvest patches.
-Value of open, respectful exchange among wildlife, logging, and forestry folks.
Great day!
Now out in the woods talking tradeoffs in small patch cuts vs. strips, etc. Great to get loggers wildlife biologists and foresters together in the woods! #silviculture
