They travelled, they connected with communities, they listened and, through their lenses, brought stories of hope, opportunity, resilience and transformation to life.
Every photo and every frame gave us a closer look at the difference being made in communities across Kenya.
Then came the moment to let the public have their say. You voted, you supported your favourite creators and helped take the journey from thousands of entries to our national finalists. #CaptureTheGood #CTGAwards #TransformingLives

It started with a challenge, and ended with two creators standing at the top.
From thousands of entries across Kenya, Kennedy Kamau and Mathew Meli have emerged as our National Winners of the Capture the Good Challenge, Kennedy as our Best Videographer and Mathew as our Best Photographer.
With “The Dream Poriot,” Kennedy captured the innocence, hope and determination of a child who simply dared to dream bigger. A reminder that sometimes, a dream is all it takes to keep pushing forward.

Mathew’s “Built for Dreams” told its own powerful story through a single frame, capturing human dignity in a way that stayed with the judges and earned his photograph the top spot.
Different perspectives, different journeys, but one thing brought them together, the ability to look beyond the moment and show us the people, hope and possibilities within it.

This is what happens when a camera meets a story worth telling.
Meet our Silver winners in the Capture the Good Challenge, Philip Otieno in Videography and Charles Muia in Photography.
Philip’s “What I Built Today” brought us closer to Florence, a hardworking shoemaker whose journey is a beautiful reminder of resilience, determination and the power of transformation through the Safaricom Foundation. From the challenges she faced to the life she continues to build, every frame carried a piece of her journey.

This morning, I presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for school infrastructure improvement projects at Kihate Comprehensive School in Nyeri County.
The projects, funded by the M-Pesa Foundation, underscore the significant role of corporate partners in promoting access to quality education through infrastructure development and scholarship support.
I was accompanied by my Agriculture and Livestock Development counterpart, Hon. Sen. Mutahi Kagwe, and the Chairperson of the Safaricom Foundation, Joseph Ogutu.

Some of the most powerful stories are already happening around us; in our schools, hospitals, communities and environment. Stories of resilience, transformation and hope.
Through our Capture the Good challenge, we are inviting creators across Kenya to help tell these stories through photography and videography. Whether you are a professional creative or simply someone with a great eye and a phone camera, this is your opportunity to capture the real impact of the Safaricom and M-PESA Foundations in your community.
Anchored on four key pillars on Education, Health, Economic Empowerment and Environmental Conservation, this challenge will give creators access to over 250 foundation projects across the country to document stories that matter.
This is more than a competition, we want to make everyday Kenyans ambassadors of change. It is a platform to amplify authentic Kenyan stories, empower the next generation of creatives, and showcase the incredible impact happening across the country every day.
Entries close on 31st May.
If you are passionate about storytelling, photography or videography, I encourage you to join the challenge and help us shine a light on the transformational work we are doing in Kenya.

I understand first hand the role women play in society after seeing the role our mum played in our bringing growing in a rural environment. Her strength and resilience, affirmed my belief that empowering women transforms families, communities and the society at large.
Last week in celebration of International Women's Day, we gathered to appreciate and recognize all the women in our Wezesha Mama Program.
We launched this program mid last year, funded by the @MPESA_FDN and implemented by Hand-in-Hand East Africa, to empower women through financial and digital literacy.
We have registered 30 community-based women groups from across the country who have successfully been onboarded and oriented on entrepreneurship, digital inclusion and financial literacy, empowering them with the tools and network to help them grow.
We remain fully committed to walking this journey with these women, empowering them, their families and their communities, and we look forward to making an even greater impact through Wezesha Mama for years to come. #WezeshaMama #TransformingLives
