The doctors believe that it is best to intervene, so, following their advice, I have decided to undergo surgery to remove it. The operation is already scheduled to take place in the coming days. Vladdy is this guy. When I listened to his comments I just heard a frustrated competitor. Kudos to him for making this right. He loves the city that loves him.

The amount of HATE & basically writing off Vladdy, is unwarranted imo. His words have been taken way out of context. If you are forgetting all he’s done for this team over the years, esp being a pivotal piece in getting us to the WS, you are NOT a true #BlueJays50 fan.
All of this hate towards @27vladdyjr needs to end. He clearly didn’t articulate what he wanted to convey about his contract and struggles this year. The amount of pile on is despicable and bordering on something else in my view.
If this didn’t involve an athlete of colour would we be treating them like this? I wonder. He has apologized and tried to explain himself repeatedly now. Enough with this toxic fanbase and commentators.

You have Ortiz, Martinez, and his dad all saying Vladdy said the thing the wrong way, and he now apologized formally for it.
Fans continuing to be angry over this in the comments... Take that kind of energy elsewhere. There's real problems in the world to worry about.

Totally agree with this sentiment.
Vlad Jr. cares. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. The dude wants to excel. He loves his craft.
And, honestly, that might be part of the issue. No one wants to see Vlad succeed more than Vlad. #BlueJays50
I heard Vlad Jr comments. You do get paid for what you have done up to that point BUT with the exception that that will continue with some natural ups and downs. I didn’t take his comments to mean he doesn’t care and doesn’t want to be better than he was this year. I just don’t think he articulated it very well. I think he battled a lot this year including being banged up, the pressure of living up to the contract, which is nearly impossible but I think with this year behind him, he will learn and be better because of it.
