Jonathan Fleming told police he was at Disney World when his friend was sh0t and k*lled in Brooklyn.
He was telling the truth. And the evidence was in his pocket when they arrested him.
Darryl Rush, known to friends as “Black,” was shot and k*lled in Brooklyn in the early hours of August 15, 1989. Fleming said he was in Orlando, Florida, on a Disney World trip with his mother, Patricia—roughly 1,100 miles away.
From the beginning, Fleming maintained that he was innocent. He had plane tickets, postcards and video from the trip.
But a woman identified him as the sh**ter. In 1990, he was convicted and sentenced to 25 years to life.
Before he was even sentenced, the woman recanted. She admitted that she had lied, saying she hoped her testimony would persuade police to drop an unrelated arrest against her.
Prosecutors argued that her original testimony was truthful, and Fleming’s conviction remained in place. His appeals failed.
Then, in 2013, his lawyers asked the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office to review the case.
The Conviction Integrity Unit examined the old files and uncovered evidence that should have raised serious questions from the beginning.
Among the documents was a receipt from an Orlando hotel showing that Fleming had paid a telephone bill there about five hours before the mu*der. The receipt had been taken from his pocket when police arrested him.
There was also a 1989 letter from Orlando police to New York detectives. It said hotel employees remembered seeing Fleming in Orlando. His defence had never been given that information.
Investigators also found police records indicating that the witness had received a reward connected to her testimony.
On April 8, 2014, prosecutors and defence lawyers stood together before a Brooklyn judge and jointly asked for Fleming’s conviction to be overturned.
After nearly 25 years behind bars, Fleming walked free that same day. He was 51 years old.
In June 2015, New York City agreed to pay him $6.25 million.
For almost a quarter of a century, Jonathan Fleming had insisted he was telling the truth.
The evidence supporting his alibi had been in the police files all along.
He lost 25 years of his life—but he never stopped saying he was innocent.

Sadly, I woke up to some heartbreaking news this morning here in Baton Rouge , Louisiana. Someone broke into my van overnight, shattered two windows, stole a lawnmower, and ransacked everything inside. It’s honestly heartbreaking and deflating, especially when you’re simply trying to do good and make a difference. I can’t understand why someone would do something like this. I’ve contacted the police, and I’m currently waiting for them to arrive and process the van for fingerprints. Unfortunately, this means I won’t be able to attend the Louisiana Book Festival today as planned. I was really looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing my books, but right now, I’m just trying to process everything that happened.

In 1987, Patrick Stewart refused to unpack his suitcase for six straight weeks.
My throat still tightens every time I read why.
Every Hollywood insider told the 47-year-old British stage actor that Star Trek: The Next Generation would be a disaster. Even his closest friend, Ian McKellen, begged him not to throw away his Shakespearean career on a television gamble.
Stewart kept his bags packed by the door, waiting to be fired and sent home to London.
That "six-week failure" lasted 36 years.
Watching him late at night here in Japan, we saw something Hollywood never expected.
In Japan, we call this quiet, unbreakable spirit "Fudoshin," an immovable heart under fire.
Most action heroes scream and fire weapons to look strong.
Captain Picard never needed to raise his voice.
Born into deep poverty in Yorkshire, terrified of a violent home, he left school at age 15 and lost all his hair by 19, convinced his life as an actor was over before it began.
Yet one English teacher, Cecil Dormand, handed that frightened 12-year-old boy a copy of Shakespeare, said "Read it out loud," and secretly paid for his first drama course.
Never forget what happened decades later.
On the morning Queen Elizabeth II knighted him as Sir Patrick Stewart, he invited that same retired schoolteacher to sit beside him at his knighthood luncheon.
No suitcase left unpacked.
No rage on the bridge.
Just a cup of Earl Grey tea, a tug of his uniform, and three quiet words that commanded the galaxy:
"Make it so."
He passed away at 86 surrounded by live music, prayer, tears, and laughter.
And this December, in Avengers: Doomsday, Professor X will grace the screen one final time.
A boy who thought he wouldn't last six weeks in Hollywood gave the world an eternity of nobility.
From Japan, with tears and our deepest salute:
Thank you, Captain. Engage. ✨🖖🇯🇵

This is the BS that Cowboy fans have to deal with. This is horrible writing. First, you can’t say they were bidding against themselves when the Lions coach says they were in on it. That FACT alone discredits your entire article, Garbage!

Actually, it DOES affect you. It drives you fucking crazy to hear actual news. Truth has a liberal bias and you can't deal with it. "Conservative ideas" are nothing more than hate wrapped in ignorance, presented as fact. You don't "hear" anything other than what you want to hear.

In addition to wearing an adult diaper, Trump also appears to wear leg braces on both legs. For some reason the mainstream media won’t acknowledge this, but they made sure to let everyone know when Biden wore slip in Sketchers and Hokas with extra grip.

Reporter: You've engaged in partisan activities and appeared at political rallies. It has been the norm for the AG to not do that, are you blurring the line?

Pete Hegseth is twisting scripture again. He's trying to use the words of Isaiah to wrap up power and war in sacred clothes.
Pete Hegseth needs to study his scripture. Because Isaiah challenged government that marginalizes the poor, the widows, the orphans. He challenges corruption.
Faith, when it is authentic, stands on the margins, stands with the weak, and recognizes that all of us are children of the living God.
I'm standing with Isaiah.

Now that I’ve disconnected, to do something fun, let me be clear: from now until Election Day, I won’t give an ounce of energy to addressing anything remotely negative or false & clearly this trend is going to continue.
Instead I will pour into the amazing candidates that have APPLIED to be endorsed by @thefirepac & received our nod. I’ll be sure to point to the real opposition & finally I’ll say thank you to the REAL ONES… that can always see through the BS 🙏🏾. The more we fight one another, the less we are fighting the people that put us here… and love me or hate me, I DID NOT GET US INTO THIS BS!
I stand on my body of work that spans years that even preceded elected office & just like they divided & distracted folk during the presidential, they are doing it again. Nothing I’ve done has taken food, healthcare, nor jobs away from the people I swore to rep. I will use my influence to support those that support making lives better. ✌🏾 If you aren’t talking about a R… and the lives being ravaged by them, you aren’t helping to contribute to a solution.
