Sonnets from the Portuguese XIV Elizabeth Barrett Browning If thou must love me, let it be for nought Except for love's sake only. Do not say I love her for her smile ... her look ... her way Of speaking gently, ... for a trick of thought That falls in well with mine, and certes brought A sense of pleasant ease on such a day'— For these things in themselves, Belovèd, may Be changed, or change for thee,—and love, so wrought, May be unwrought so. Neither love me for Thine own dear pity's wiping my cheeks dry,— A creature might forget to weep, who bore Thy comfort long, and lose thy love thereby! But love me for love's sake, that evermore Thou may'st love on, through love's eternity.

Now I know why my rye bread is never stolen. 😏 Folklore and magic are fascinating, and frequently have a thread of truth.
In old folk magic, caraway seeds were used as charms of retention. Objects containing them could never be stolen, and any thief who tried would be held fast in the house. Caraway was also believed to keep lovers faithful and pigeons from deserting their dovecotes. #FolkloreSunday

The Hunter’s Moon? Ah, so that’s the name. I was looking at the moon last evening. It was cool and clear, the moon nearly full, and seemed so close one could almost reach up and touch it.
October’s #FullMoon peaks in the early hours of 26 October. It is known as the Hunter’s Moon. “The moon stays longest for the Hunter now: The trees cast down their fruitage, and the blithe And busy squirrel hoards his winter store;” – John Gardiner Calkins Brainard (1796–1828).

Ouch! That’s harsh, but possibly accurate. (Forgive me, please, Beatles fans! I am one of you! 😂)

I would love to see the ‘outtakes’ from Young Frankenstein. Cloris Leachman’s timing in the scene about a drink before bedtime was perfection!
A few memorable - and hysterical - moments with Cloris Leachman, in "Young Frankenstein"....How anyone made it through a scene without collapsing in hysterics, I shall never know.....

The Wild Atlantic Way was pretty wild!
16:30 Saturday update and gust of 122kmh at Mace Head with over 15,000 premises without power now. Glengarriff in the Southwest has recorded 72mm since midnight but worst of rain has cleared now.

And weathering quite nicely, it appears. Very pretty blooms!
“Beauty there is, which no storm can blight; It will bloom undimmed through winter's night. Then guard thou well thy heart's sweet flowers, Till they bloom again in heavenly bowers.” – from ‘Flora’ by Sarah C. Carter (1853) My garden flowers weathering the storm. #SixOnSaturday

The next Pythagorean Triple Day is March 4, 2105—3/4/05. 3-4-5!!! I’ll wait for that one, thank you very much. 😉
Today is a mathematical date we won't see again for 78 years. 10/24/26 10² + 24² = 26² It's called a Pythagorean Triple Day. There are infinitely many Pythagorean triples, but only 12 dates this century satisfy the equation.Today is the last. Next one: March 4, 2105.

It may be that the clocks go back tonight and that the wind’s howling and the rain’s horizontal but at least the last of the summer roses are GLORIOUS.

Beautiful. Tell the thrush how beautiful its song is. Perhaps we should read the memo? Tell the people we love that we love them. Now. Today. Every damn day. Else we live with the regret as I live with the regret.
Pause for a moment, and read... • Bernard O'Donoghue •

I think, I’m not certain, but I think I’ve heard that admonishment before. 🙄😂 A classic photo!

-It’s needed.
We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'
