Greg Abbott continued to get elected by fomenting fear that Mexicans and immigrants were going to take our jobs and destroy our way of life.
That he actually had his job taken by a Mexican woman is a level of poetic justice worthy of a Dickens novel.

JD Vance wants us to forget that he defended this ad.
We will NEVER forget.
I have been holding my tongue about something that happened during the Ohio gubernatorial race. I refused to speak while the election was underway because I did not want my words mistaken for an attempt to influence anyoneโs vote.
But now that the election is over, I have something to say.
For nearly twenty years, my ministry has taken me among the homeless, the abused, the exploited, and the forgotten. I have sat with victims of sexual violence and witnessed the lifelong wounds of childhood trauma.
What Vivek Ramaswamyโs campaign did to Amy Acton was among the most morally repulsive things I have witnessed in American politics.
They took a woman whose stepfather was indicted for raping her when she was twelve years old and featured her mother, from whom she had been estranged for nearly fifty years, in a political advertisement attacking her credibility.
The advertisement challenged Actonโs account of her childhood without mentioning the sexual abuse allegations or the circumstances of that estrangement. When people expressed their horror, the campaign defended it.
Imagine examining another personโs childhood suffering and fractured family relationships, then deciding those wounds might help win an election.
Anyone who has worked with survivors of childhood sexual abuse understands the painful realities of denial, betrayal, shame, and estrangement. A child growing into a successful adult does not erase what happened. Nor does a parentโs denial make that suffering disappear.
I find it equally disturbing that an elderly mother, whom Acton herself described as unwell, was brought into this spectacle. Whatever her own struggles or responsibility for the past, exploiting that fractured relationship was grotesque.
To everyone who defended this, consider the message you sent to survivors. To the young woman whose family refuses to believe her. To the man who has carried the shame of childhood abuse for forty years. To the frightened child who has yet to tell anyone.
What did you teach them about the value of their suffering?
I am a priest. I believe in repentance, forgiveness, and redemption. But none of those things requires me to pretend that deliberate cruelty is anything less than a grave moral failure.
Your political allegiance does not absolve you of moral responsibility. You do not get to set aside your conscience during an election and retrieve it afterward.
If your loyalty requires you to defend the exploitation of a childhood sexual abuse survivor, your loyalty has become an idol. And if your conscience cannot recognize the wrong here, examine what political tribalism has done to it.
This is not about Republicans or Democrats. We have a choice as a people: continue excusing cruelty from our preferred political camp, or summon the courage to condemn it wherever it appears.
Amy Acton deserved better. Every survivor who watched this unfold deserved better.
And God help us if we have reached the point where winning an election matters more than protecting the dignity of a wounded human being.

BREAKING: SWEET KARMA! Democrat Scott Colom, who is about to win the Mississippi Senate seat, only ran after his MAGA opponent stopped him from obtaining a lifetime federal judge position!
This is one of the most glorious backfires in American history...
Back in November of 2022, President Biden nominated Colom to the federal district court in northern Mississippi. He received support from the state's senior senator, Republican Roger Wicker.
But Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, who Colom is now leading by 1,764 in the vote count from Tuesday, refused to support the nomination. In fact, she blocked the Senate from even considering him by withholding her blue slip, an old Senate custom that lets one home-state senator veto a judge.
She defended her indefensible move by insisting that he couldn't be trusted with such power because of past support for transgender rights. In reality, she was just pandering to the racist MAGA base by blocking a Black Democrat.
But if she hadn't blocked him, Colom would be a judge right now. Instead, he's poised to take Hyde-Smith's seat, flipping a seat that a Democrat hasn't been able to win since 1972 in a state that handed Trump 61% of its vote in 2024.
While the race has not yet been called, if Colom maintains this lead, as he seems likely to do, the seat is his.
Please โค๏ธ and share if you can't wait to see Colom in the Senate!

Trump is reportedly planning to restart war with Iran after the election.
Some of us have been briefed on the war plan. And while I cannot disclose any details, I can say this: the plan is insane. It will not achieve objectives and will set off a new cycle of escalation.

Meanwhile, Chris Murphy has warned that the Traitor-in-Chief is about to commit an illegal, insane act of war that will lead to devastating escalation and the destruction of the rule of law, not to mention the targeting of civilians.

BEFORE you go and waste a vote on Republicans, please keep in mind they sat there and did NOTHING while trump:
- Imposed tariffs that cost YOU money
- Started a war that cost YOU money
- Stuffed his own pockets while YOU struggle
- called affordability a "hoax"
- became obsessed with men's asses
- threw fancy Halloween parties at the White House for "rich people" while you can't afford gas or groceries
The House is on track to only work 104 days this year. They get paid $174,000 for that, PLUS the best healthcare YOU could never afford.
Why would you give Republicans a 2nd chance to do more of THAT bullshit for 2 more years?

MAGA, a serious question. What do you feel when the President of the United States gets on stage and talks about the "b" in dumb?
What are you feeling when the Leader of the Free World stands in front of his constituents and talks about "ass." Over and over.
What are you feeling when the Commander-in-Chief faces the people and discusses the size of a golfer's penis?
It's not just dumb, insane, and not funny. It's unAmercian.
He's addressing the people. The ones who elected him. The ones who are suffering. The ones who need to be reassured by a capable leader.
Instead, he brags about his talents in recognizing giraffes and Nicki Minaj's ass.
I know what we feel. And what you should feel if you have one patriotic cell in you.
You should feel shame.
Deep, devastating shame.
Mike Johnson said this election is between common sense and crazy.
Crazy is when armed masked federal agents kill two American citizens in broad daylight.
Crazy is blowing up fisherman boats in the Caribbean.
Crazy is invading a foreign country, kidnapping its leader, and stealing that country's oil.
Crazy is lifting sactions on Russia and endangering an ally fighting for their freedom,
Crazy is threatening to "buy" Greenland, and threatening to make Canada "the 51st state."
Crazy is renaming bodies of water for no fucking reason.
Common sense is affordable healthcare.
Raskin: We now have the first-person accounts of five different women saying that they were sexually assaulted by Trump. And then we have another six women, for a total of 11, who link him to the whole network of sex trafficking of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

For the MAGA shidiots in the backโฆ some facts:
No, Trump didnโt โgetโ Greenland.
Denmark didnโt โgiveโ us Greenland.
Weโre never going to โhaveโ Greenland, much like how we donโt โhaveโ Venezuela or โhaveโ control over the Strait of Hormuz.
He didnโt โsolve inflationโ and the war he started 8 months ago, that isnโt a war, isnโt โwonโ.
Gas prices arenโt lower than they were when Biden left office and neither is diesel.
Weโre not the โhottest countryโ in the world.
This isnโt the โGolden Ageโ.
We arenโt โrespected againโ. We are a global laughing stock, and at this point most people in other countries just want to know if weโre ok.
Affordability isnโt a โhoaxโ, data centers arenโt popular, vaccines and Tylenol donโt โcauseโ autism and the Epstein files, much like the creepy ass birthday card Trump sent his best friend Jeff, are very, very real.
Itโs still Lake Ontario, itโs still the Gulf of Mexico, and itโs still very fucking much, called AI.
He doesnโt have a โhealthcare planโ, youโre not getting your Doge check, your tariff check or your $5,000.
The ballroom youโll never see and the golf course youโll never use arenโt โfreeโ.
The reflecting pool wasnโt โvandalizedโ, January 6th wasnโt โpeacefulโ, and the 2020 election wasnโt โstolenโ.
No one is changing your childโs gender at school, no one is eating your cats or your dogs, and no one is coming here from Africa or anywhere else for that matter, to steal your shitty minimum wage job.
Mexico and Canada arenโt our enemies, and Russia and China are not our friends.
Losing your Medicaid, your SNAP, and your healthcare plan isnโt โwinningโ and it sure as shit doesnโt โown the Libsโ.
The word โdumbโ has always had a B in it, and the word โincumbentโ has nothing to do with something you might have worn to your prom.
Now, I know that facts are about as useful to you as a cousin-less dating pool, a sheep thatโs not in the mood, and a book with no pictures, but that doesnโt make them any less true.
Youโre poorer, sicker and less safe than you were 2 years ago.
Trump didnโt make America โgreatโ again, heโs actively destroying it, while lining his own pockets, and the pockets of the Epstein class at the very same time.
Now I know that he still hates who you hate, and maybe that really is enough, but the truth is that he lied to you about everything else.
He lied about lowering prices, lied to you about no new foreign wars and lied about accountability for pedophiles.
And Iโm sure you stopped reading when you met the first word with more than two syllables, but in the event that youโre still here, all I want, all I ask, is that you sit this one out.
If youโre not going to vote to stop him, then donโt vote at all.
Stay home and brush your tooth.
Let the grownups with still firing synapses handle this one.
I think we can all agree that youโve done more than enough.

Dear MAGA, let me explain something.
You have been taught that anything with the word social in it is communism. It isnโt. Social Security isnโt communism. Medicare isnโt communism. And neither is the public school your children attend or the fire department that saves your house.
Norway and Denmark are capitalist countries. People own businesses, buy houses, make fortunes, invest in stocks and own guns. The difference is that their governments make capitalism work for ordinary people, not just billionaires.
Here is what that means in everyday life. You get cancer. You receive treatment without facing a ruinous hospital bill. Your wife has a baby. She gets months of paid parental leave. Your child wants to attend university. Tuition is free at public universities for eligible students.
You work hard. You get five weeks of paid vacation. You lose your job. There is a safety net to help you get back on your feet And none of this requires giving up your house, your truck, your religion or your freedom.
Now here is the part you really need to understand.
You are already paying taxes. The question is what you get back.
In Europe, more of that money comes back to ordinary families through healthcare, education and financial security.
In America, politicians have convinced millions of working people that asking for those things is socialism, while demanding lower taxes for billionaires is freedom.
You have been persuaded to fight against benefits you would personally enjoy, in order to protect fortunes you will never possess.
Elon Musk does not need you to defend his wallet. Your family needs you to defend yours.

Trump's decline has exacerbated in recent days. It's gotten to the point where he can't say a single thing - literally, not a single thing - that's not either a provably false narrative, a gaffe, a laughable hyperbole, or a declarative statement about a vanity project that voters do not care about.
The fact that so many still pay attention to him as if he is lucid, competent, and worth listening to, brings me to the sensitive subject NOBODY wants to discuss, which is:
It's now become sadly obvious that, along with the deep political divide in this country, there is also, quite clearly, a distinct intellectual divide.
Even I rarely speak about this, partly because it's often said that the Left can be condescending.
(For any MAGA reading this, that means we talk down to people.)

Last night Trump said he could have won Vietnam in a week. His plan was โgoing after Ho Chi Minh City.โ
Ho Chi Minh City was Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam. Our ally. The enemyโs capital was Hanoi. We bombed it.
He called the presidents who fought that war stupid, then explained how heโd have won it by attacking our own side.
58,220 Americans died in that war. Trump got five deferments. Now heโs telling the rest of us how easy it would have been.
Heโs had more than fifty years to learn which side we were on. He still hasnโt. That alone should disqualify him from sending anybody elseโs kids to war.
Instead, heโs weighing more strikes on Iran after Tuesday. His administration has reportedly considered using the โmother of all bombs,โ the one he calls โlike a tiny nuclear bomb.โ
The man who thinks we should have bombed our allyโs capital gets to choose the targets.
