It’s actually crazy how you grow up thinking home-cooked meals every day are just normal, then get older and realise how much time and effort it took your Mom to make that happen and how lucky you were to have that.

I think the interesting thing about Papertrade is that it’s an experiment in “controlled insolvency”. Like in any derivatives market, the PnL is just imaginary, so you can create whatever rules you want around it.
ADL was the original controlled insolvency mechanism. And its invention basically enabled the existence of the perps trading. Since then, almost everyone has used pretty much the same formula.
Papertrade was the first that tried a totally different mechanism. Whether it works or not remains to be seen. But it’s cool to see experiments around the general mechanism of controlled insolvency.

"The cure for addiction, the only cure, is suffering. You suffer enough that something inside you goes, 'I'm done.'"
"At the beginning, it's very, very hard. It's a 10. You start off because you're in the habit of doing this, whatever it is in compulsive behavior."
"You can win 1,000 times, you only have to give in once. You're never going to win all the time, so something fundamental has to change."
"I hit that point before I lost the things that were the most important... my relationship with my kids. When I felt as if it impacted them, I recognized it. It was the worst day of my life."
"Since that day, I swear to Christ, I have not ever wanted to drink once. So it's the easiest thing in the world."
"Now I'm that asshole who's like, 'You know, I'm grateful. I got to be a better person through this process, and I've lost the obsession.'"
