Momoiro no Kansho seeks to explore and celebrate the ero-guro-nansenu (erotic-grotesque-nonsense) art and culture of the Showa era; featuring works spanning almost five decades from the very emergence of the ero-guro scene in 1927, up to its gekiga revival in the 60s and 70s.
Offering an alternative view of what is typically associated with ero-guro, the second "Grotesque" volume of Momoiro no Kansho carries on from where the "Erotic" one left off and features a wide range of works by Taiga Utagawa, exploring his influence on the genre from Gothic horror, to Edo-era detective stories, and yokai manga. The book also includes works based on classic and legendary Japanese figures such as Okiku and Oshichi Yaoya, as well as a number of horror gekiga by the brothers Juan Maeda and Kai Maeda that were originally published in the legendary Black Ace magazine.
Sourced directly from hard-to-find gekiga and true story magazines, and reprinted for the first time since their original publication, all works in this book are officially licensed under the Orphan Works Licensing System.

Delighted to announce that the forthcoming BD/UHD release of AD Police will feature brand new commentary tracks from screenwriter Sho Aikawa (eps 1-2) and dub director Michael Sinterniklaas (ep3).
This was Sinterniklaas' directorial debut.

当初は「桃色の甘蕉」の各巻で同じ表紙デザインの色展開を展開する予定でしたが、購入を検討しているお客様にとって一見しただけでは分かりにくいかもしれない、という指摘がいくつか寄せられました。
本作りにおいて、表紙のデザインは私が最も好きな作業の一つです。ですから、新しい表紙を制作できるというのは、まさに心から楽しめる機会なのです！
これが、「桃色の甘蕉ㅤグロテスク」英語版に使用される最終的なデザインです。全体的な構成は「秘密探偵雑誌」に着想を得ており、1962年号の「実話と秘録」に掲載された、非常に怪奇な写真を取り入れています。私自身がイギリス人であることもあり、仕上げにはグロテスクの巨匠、オーブリー・ビアズリーの作品（1898年の「Volpone」の表紙イラスト）を用いるのが最もふさわしいと考えました。

God Killing Himself tears open his body and dies. Mother Earth rises from what remains and takes his seed into herself. She gives birth to Son of Earth – Flesh on Bone. He is cast into a barren world, seized by the Nomads, tortured, killed, and briefly returned to life by his mother. The Nomads destroy her too. The Robed Figures gather what remains of mother and son, grind their bodies down, and return them to the soil. The ground flowers.
My favorite addition to WICKED CITY lore made by the series' 5th volume, NEW YORK DEMON WORLD WAR, is probably that Other Side sleeper agents can be activated by shooting them point blank in the head.
The cover art (by Yamanaka Kazumasa) for the 4th WICKED CITY book by Hideyuki Kikuchi seems to feature FIST OF THE NORTH STAR's Kenshiro being dismayed by a woman enjoying some toothy tentacle attention.

The releases from @LivingtheLine_'s Smudge Horror line have spoiled me to the degree that whenever I now read a manga by another publisher I am disappointed that there's no essays providing historical and cultural context. With just 7 releases they have set a new gold standard.
