Gov.-elect Gina Hinojosa promised to end the state takeovers of Fort Worth ISD and Lake Worth ISD. Today’s Fort Worth Report explains why the election does not automatically hand those boards back. State law generally ties an entire board of managers’ removal to two consecutive years of acceptable ratings at the campus that triggered the takeover, with a phased return to elected trustees. Replacing individual managers is different. FWISD trustee Roxanne Martinez said, “Our children cannot afford to become a casualty of another transition.” She also warned about low student achievement and a nearly $50 million shortfall. Kids first means following the law and improving the schools, not pretending a campaign promise erases the work.

I’ve heard from a dozen White House staffers. The Stephen Miller decision is a lightning bolt to the administration. Miller is the intellectual bedrock of MAGA. Good staffers are energized to fight a guerrilla insurgency against DC. One tells me… “This is Trump’s ‘F it’ move”

We must limit executive emergency powers in Texas before the Democrats take over!! I’ve been pushing for this since Abbott was last elected in 2022… but, for some reason, the Democrats didn’t mind back then. They’re apoplectic now. Hypocrites.

The governor-elect wants $17 billion from the Rainy Day Fund for one-time $1,500 checks. Texas saved that money for hard times, not a campaign promise. The Senate is still Republican, so it goes through the Legislature first. Permanent property tax relief beats a one-time check.

Top of the Democratic agenda on day 1 needs to be a pause on advanced AI development, regulation of this out of control industry, and a ban on artificial superintelligence.
