Congratulations to our lab member @PedroG_V_ 🥳 His master's thesis has been published as an Open Access research article this week: "Site Formation Processes at Tinshemet Cave, Israel: Micro-Stratigraphy, Fire Use, and Cementation" 🔥

ALT Figure 3 (a) Grid map of Tinshemet Cave in plan view, showing the range of cemented deposits forming the site's terrace, the excavated squares, the position of hominin burials, and the position of the monolithic sediment blocks studied. Drawing by Dr. Marion Prevost, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. (b) An example of extraction of blocks for micromorphological analysis using a disk saw (sample TCB-19-04). The scale bar is 20 cm.

Very happy to report new paper by El Salt team published in Nature! Many years of scientific work in pursuit of narrowing down the timescale of archaeology to human generations, to approach human behavior in a temporal resolution of decades. @ULL @iuboag

She also participates in several projects, ranging from late Pleistocene contexts to Canary Island's aboriginal societies! Her first article investigated combustion features and fuel sources in the highest-altitude cave archaeological site in the Canary Islands (Tenerife, Spain).

On #FridayMotivation we'd like to introduce our lab members! Today is #phdcandidate @htomelaura's turn, who works in applying microcontextual techniques, such as soil micromorphology and lipid biomarker analysis, to investigate domestic spaces during the Iberian Iron Age 🔬

This will be the first time these techniques are combined within a single site to explore climate change on the scale of human behaviour!
Check her previous work using oxygen isotope measurements of Bos/Bison tooth enamel to reconstruct temperatures 👇
