I returned to work seven weeks after giving birth because my company didn’t offer paid maternity leave. I had spent ten months saving, cashed out a portion of my retirement savings, cancelled almost every unnecessary expense and even accepted freelance jobs while pregnant. Still, I couldn’t afford to stay home for the full fourteen weeks.
On my first morning back, I sat in my car outside the office and cried. My newborn was barely seven weeks old, and I felt like I was abandoning her just to keep a job that couldn’t even pay me while I recovered from childbirth.
When I eventually walked into the office, my manager looked at me and said, “Well, at least you got seven weeks off. Some women don’t even get that.”
I wanted to ask him whether he would describe seven weeks of recovering from childbirth, sleepless nights and leaving a newborn behind as a holiday. But I swallowed my anger and went to my desk.
What happened afterward was something I never expected.

Peace is the new standard.
Anything that costs it has to be worth more than the peace itself.
Most things aren’t.

sometimes you don't need advice, you just need one person to understand how exhausting everything has become.

I'm the reason my dad's ex-wife divorced him and he never got over her
I lost my mom when I was 7 and my dad remarried 18 months later after dating his ex-wife for six months. She tried very hard to fit into the family as a wife and mom but I didn't want her to be motherly toward me and I rejected all her efforts to be there for me. My dad would try to encourage us to bond all the time. He'd plan vacations for us and he'd send us on girly spa days together and he made sure she was present for every school play or dance recital. He also made sure she was at every medical appointment I had for the medical conditions I had. His ex-wife was heartbroken that none of it brought us closer but she was sure that eventually I would come around.

One of the hardest lessons in life is learning when to walk away. Not every argument deserves your energy, not every relationship deserves another chance, and not everyone deserves access to your life. Protect your peace without feeling guilty.

Don't let desperation make you accept every treatment from people. Being lonely is better than staying where your dignity is constantly questioned. Know your worth. 👌✌️

My mother always said my younger brother was the child she never had to worry about.
He was responsible, respectful, financially disciplined and always knew what to say.
I was the opposite. I made mistakes, changed jobs, struggled with money and seemed to disappoint her every other month.
Last Christmas, we were all sitting around the dining table when my mother raised her glass and said, “I’m grateful at least one of my children turned out well.”
Everybody laughed.
I laughed too, because I’d learned that it was easier than looking hurt.
A few weeks later, my brother called me crying.

Every evening, I walked home in the dark with my keys between my fingers. One night, a woman I'd never met suddenly began walking beside me.
I was tense. I could hear footsteps behind me, getting closer. Then a woman crossed the street, matched my pace, and quietly asked, "Would you mind if I walked with you for a while?"
I nodded.
We walked together for about ten minutes. She didn't ask questions or make conversation. She simply stayed beside me until the footsteps behind us disappeared.
At my corner, she smiled and said, "Get home safe." Then she turned and walked away.
I never saw her again, but I never forgot her.
And a few months later...

My friend once told me something funny about his girlfriend that almost caused a misunderstanding in their relationship.
For almost eight months, whenever his girlfriend went to take a shower, she would always carry her phone into the bathroom and lock the door from the inside.
At first, he didn’t think much of it. But after several months, he started becoming uncomfortable with the habit.
One evening, he decided to bring it up.
Him: “Baby, can I ask you something?”
Her: “Sure, what’s wrong?”
Him: “Why do you always take your phone into the bathroom whenever you’re going to shower?”
Her: “Because I don’t like leaving my phone unattended.”
Him: “But you’ve been doing this since we started dating. Sometimes you even lock the door.”
Her: “And what’s wrong with that? It’s my phone and my privacy.”
