Ather is actually a very interesting story, and I think this tweet misses a big part of it. Look at who funded Ather. Sachin Bansal invested ~$53M, starting as an angel and then leading its Series C and Series D. Imagine an Indian founder personally putting that much money behind a hardware startup leading growth rounds. Then there's Hero MotoCorp. A traditional Indian two-wheeler company backed a startup that could eventually compete with its own business. Hero started investing in 2016 and kept doubling down. Today, its stake is worth billions of dollars. Between Sachin and Hero, nearly 50% (~$250Mn) of Ather's capital came from two backers you would hardly expect to make such investment. Think about how unusual that is. Neither was a traditional VC fund, yet both played a huge role in getting Ather to where it is today. And it's not just Ather. Mukesh Bansal invested ~$1.5M in Skyroot Aerospace very early. That bet is now reportedly worth ~$80M, including partial exits. Nearly 60x. I think we should spend more time celebrating people who are actually making these contrarian investments rather than criticizing those who aren't. The former encourages more people to take risks. The latter doesn't really help anyone.
Why are Indian VCs so afraid to take risk and make money? Someone should go to India and take risk and make money. Our story - corememory.com/p/a-new-india…

The Wodeyars built institutions that shaped Karnataka. Today's politicians can barely maintain what they inherited, yet behave like they own the state.

Brilliantly made video explaining the art of chitra-kavya, the art of solving fascinating optimization problems using letters! Super happy to see my open-source TTS, Vāgdhenu (prathosh.in/vagdhenu/), being used in such magnificent ways. Thanks for creating this, @udbhava.

Basically, communism for thee, none for me...
Being born into affluence, possessing a luxury automobile, or belonging to a political dynasty does not inherently invalidate one’s commitment to communism. #Communism is an ideological conviction, not a certificate of poverty. I often tell my students that, philosophically speaking, a baby’s first cry may be interpreted as the most rudimentary assertion of a fundamental right, the instinctive demand for nourishment, care, and survival. Although an infant is incapable of comprehending political ideology, that primordial cry symbolises an innate human need and the instinct to secure what is essential for existence. Therefore, before branding @neha_aisa Neha Bora a fraud merely because she or her family may possess an expensive car, we must learn to distinguish ideological commitment from personal affluence. Scrutinise her arguments, interrogate her actions, and expose any demonstrable contradictions in her principles. But condemning someone’s political convictions solely on the basis of their family’s wealth is intellectual superficiality, not a substantive critique of ideology.

We did everything other than no.1 on the list with both our tinies and it worked very well for us. 1 of the best pieces of advice early on in parenthood was to include the babies into our way of life as early as possible so we travelled early on with them & they enjoy it too.
Lazymaxxing your life with babies, 0y to 3y 1. Don't buy a baby crib. Put as big a mattress as you have space for on the floor and cosleep. Preferably put it in another room than the master bedroom - sometimes baby will have hard nights but you don't want two adult zombies in the house 2. Go everywhere you want. Buy a sling or baby sack, put baby there and go for coffee. Visit a friend with an older baby and ask to try all the baby wearing devices they have, you'll find a perfect one. Have to admit it is much easier to do in a friendly climate 3. Breastfeed if you can. It will allow you not to think about baby food for months and go out easier 4. Yes you can take baby to that museum or rock concert 5. When the baby is older slowly introduce the same food as you are eating at home 6. You don't need baby courses to develop baby brains. Talk to them. Let them cook with you or help with the laundry 7. Teach kids that there are boring times of the day. I think boredom is just the best gift you can present them, we all need space for creativity. 8. Read to your kids. 9. Yes it is ok to use diapers for a longer time but then spend just one day on potty training. 10. Teach them to cook their own food. They will be so proud! 11. Kids won't eat unhealthy food if you only have healthy food at home

Regular reminder that I was the one who exposed the toolkit and Navika from Times now shamelessly stole my tweets and showed it on national TV without giving me any credits. 😑😞
Preeti: “Anyone can hire an influencer. If a rich man from Punjab sitting in Canada hires Mia Khalifa & Rihanna, that is NOT foreign FUNDING.” 🤯 Akshita: “That is an INSULT to the FARMERS then.” 🎯 Gaurav Sawant: “Greta Thunberg literally tweeted out the ENTIRE TOOLKIT. 💥 => Akshita Nandagopal & Gaurav Sawant ripped the logic to shreds. Meanwhile, Pooja Shali sitting there enjoying every second of it. 🔥

So as expected, Ramayana has become Marvel. Just a “story” with “superheroes”. It’s either this or Adipurush. I choose Yugo Sako’s anime version.

It was amusing to read some posts earlier trying to rationalize Mā Sītā fighting as if the makers were intellectual enough to decide and reverent enough to care. This, dēviyõ aur sajjanõ, is the level at which the movie team is, somewhere between juvenility and irreverence.

They keep 'urging'. Those of us who did return, didn't need any incentives or pep talks. I can say that with some authority. The others who he wants back need the incentives described here. Set it up and you won't need to guilt trip or 'urge'. swarajyamag.com/amp/story/co…

Theres no evidence that this govt sees India as anything but a huge reservoir of labor for the west.
🚨 BIG! Union Minister Piyush Goyal RECALLS the HISTORIC contribution of 6,000 nurses from Kerala who went to West Germany in the 1960s to address its nursing shortage. – “They provided outstanding patient care, supported families in Germany, and built their lives in a new country.” – “In the process, they built TRUST between Germany and India.” – “Their contribution can NEVER be FORGOTTEN, can never be undermined.” – “Last year, we celebrated 25 years of our Strategic Partnership. This year, we are celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations with Germany.”

Today, the calendar makes a right triangle, for the last time this century. This Saturday is October 24, 2026. Write it as 10/24/26 or 24/10/26, and the same beautiful relationship appears: 10² + 24² = 26² 100 + 576 = 676 But here’s what makes today special. There are infinitely many Pythagorean triples. Only a handful fit our calendar. Using the rule month² + day² = (last two digits of the year)², the month cannot exceed 12, and the day cannot exceed 31. Those small limits leave exactly 12 qualifying dates in this century. Today is the last. The next will be March 4, 2105: 3² + 4² = 5² That is a wait of more than 78 years. An infinite family of triangles. Just twelve appearances on a century’s calendar. Happy Pythagorean Triple Day.

Very handsome Patek 3417 available at Hairspring. This 1950s steel model was originally developed for X-ray technicians, atomic physicists, and engineers (nerds), so it has iron cover to resist magnetic fields. Technically a tool watch! The sister 3418 model is more affordable.
