Twitter was kind of a neat place to hang out, for a while.

Really proud of all the Tweeps who left, on their own terms or not. Y'all are legends.

Have you ever been to a wake where the deceased was the kind of person who say: "At my wake, I want everyone to grab a beer and talk shit about the people I hate. That's it, and no crying!" That's what this feels like right now.

I don't know what comes next, but Twitter as we knew it is dead. Even if the site stays up (somehow), the community will never be the same. RIP.

In a weird way, I think that the destruction of this platform by an arrogant billionaire with no understanding of how humans interact with one another sort of brought us all closer together again.

Oh well, it happened. Best wishes to all the Tweeps who stay onboard. Stick up for yourselves, and your principles. 😢

I haven't tweeted much in the past couple of years, but I'm still a daily Twitter visitor. I'm hopeful this Musk deal will somehow fall apart. If it doesn't, I'm going to sign out and never return. It has been a trip. 👋☮️💔

So many people at Twitter have worked tirelessly (and often thanklessly) to make this site the best it can be, battling the worst of humanity because there was so much opportunity for good here. That opportunity feels like it is slipping away, probably forever.

Looks like I won't be quitting this hellsite after all. I can't decide if that's a good thing or not. Either way, I hope Twitter completely demolishes Musk in court.

Remember what Republican leaders said before amnesia set in. I took notes that night: Mitch McConnell (Jan6): "The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people...They tried to disrupt our democracy, they failed…This failed insurrection.” THREAD

I stopped wearing a mask in public and within a week I caught a cold. Whoever is keeping track, please add 1 to the tally.

"Political" statements in 2021 in the US: Black men shouldn't be summarily executed for (maybe) resisting arrest. Armed insurrectionists who try to overturn a free election should be held accountable. Support for the Confederacy is, by definition, unpatriotic.

Everyone, including trans people, deserves access to health care. Wearing a mask reduces the spread of an airborne virus. Black lives matter.

Pretending that these are "political opinions" rather than essential truths is disgusting. Leaders who silence these statements, or protect those who argue against them, are purposefully promoting unsafe working environments.

White guys: Why can't you just not care about what happens to other people? But I am other people. It's happening to me. White guys: I mean that sucks, but you don't have to bring it to work. Die on your own time, ya know what I mean?
