NCAA President Charlie Baker is pushing a 5-year eligibility rule that could pass in May and start as soon as June, per multiple sources. Baker is advocating for a strict 5-year eligibility clock for D1 athletes, starting at high school graduation or age 19 — a move that would eliminate redshirts and most waiver-based extensions. The proposal could be passed as emergency legislation in May and go into effect as soon as June, signaling major, immediate change. Baker also supports adding a legal tampering window, allowing coaches and players to communicate before the Transfer Portal opens, similar to the NFL. College athletics could look very different very soon. #TP4PT #TransferPortal
