In January 2024, Sven-Göran Eriksson told the world he had terminal pancreatic cancer. Asked whether there was anything left in football he wished he'd done, he didn't have to think long. This was a man who'd managed Benfica, Roma, Lazio, England and Manchester City. Still, one job had always got away. “I’m a Liverpool supporter.” “I’ve always wished to be the manager of Liverpool.” It started when he was a kid in Sweden. His dad and brother were Liverpool fans, and his son later followed them. When Swedish TV began showing English football on Saturday afternoons, there was only ever one live match. “We always hoped they would show Liverpool.” In 1979, aged 31 and just starting out as a manager at IFK Gothenburg, he wrote to Bob Paisley asking whether he could come over and see how the European champions went about their work. “They said I was welcome to come.” So over he came to watch Liverpool train. “I remember the training.” “It was very simple, very high quality.” After one match he was brought into the Boot Room. Liverpool were in a title race with Manchester United, so an hour or so after the final whistle he asked how United had done. “We don’t know.” That answer taught him nearly as much as the training sessions. “Can you imagine that you are so secure of yourself like Liverpool were?” “They did it their way, they didn’t care what others did.” More than two decades on, once he'd spoken about his illness and that one dream job, word reached Liverpool. Jürgen Klopp didn't hesitate. “He’s very welcome to come here.” “He can sit in my seat in my office and do my job for a day if he wants.” The club invited him onto the management team for the Legends game against Ajax at Anfield. Sven assumed someone was having him on. “When they asked, I thought it was a joke.” “Of course I will come to that.” On the 23rd of March 2024, almost 45 years after that letter to Bob Paisley, Sven-Göran Eriksson walked out at Anfield as Liverpool manager in front of nearly 60,000 people, with Steven Gerrard as his captain. Liverpool fell 2-0 behind to Ajax and turned it around to win 4-2. Gerrard was clear about who deserved the credit. “He changed everything at half-time.” “He’s still got it, he’s still got the magic.” “He made the difference.” Before kick-off, he stood on the pitch as the Kop sang You'll Never Walk Alone, the song he'd grown up listening to. “I cried.” “It was beautiful.” “To sit on the bench for Liverpool was the dream all my life.” “Now it has happened.” Five months later, Sven-Göran Eriksson passed away. He never got the Liverpool job the way he'd once dreamed of it, but he got his afternoon at Anfield. “It was beautiful, absolutely fantastic, incredible.” “A memory for life.”

Feel like I’ve only had to see Virg properly put the afterburners on about three times in his whole Liverpool career. Still absolutely rapid. Unbelievable footballer.
This is Antoine Semenyo hitting the second fastest speed of the season against Liverpool - 35.74 km/h. What’s really interesting about the clip is that Virgil Van Dijk - the chasing defender - hits 34.94 km/h on the same recovery sprint. And wins the challenge. He’s 35 years old.

Tucker Carlson’s “interview” with the great Jacob Rees-Mogg shows why he's is the most dangerous demagogue in America. He's an historical illiterate posing as a modern-day Herodotus. This isn;'t really about ignorance or contrarianism. By “challenging” every settled historical truth, his aim is to erase every moral distinction and reduce history to a series of supposedly "unanswered questions"—all of which, not coincidentally, turn the decent into the demonic and the demonic into the decent. Hitler's "legitimate claims" against Poland justify the conquest and destruction of an entire nation in the most murderous occupation in human history? Was defeating Nazi Germany even worth it? By asking these "so-called" questions, Tucker's goal isn't to illuminate history, it's to invert it. Aggressors become victims. Victims become aggressors. Dictators are statesmen. Democracies defending themselves are warmongers. The guilt for history's greatest crimes are stripped of context, so responsibility can shift to the victims of those crimes. Rewriting history to cast Nazi Germany as the victim and Poland—the nation Hitler invaded, occupied, terrorized and sought to destroy—as the criminal is the deliberate destruction of moral truth and a grotesque insult to a nation that paid in blood unmatched in the annals of human crime. @Jacob_Rees_Mogg @NawrockiKn @D_Tarczynski @radeksikorski @donaldtusk @marklevinshow @tedcruz @SpencerGuard @VDHanson

The ultimate takeaway from this show is that being a mafia is a complete sucker's bet. These guys are a bunch of miserable, anxious wrecks who live in a constant state of pure paranoia. You spend your entire life nervously tracking who might be wearing a federal wire, jumping at every strange car parked down the street, and waiting for your own best friends to double-cross you the second your revenue stream dips or a turf war with New York gets too hot. Nearly every single guy in the crew is dealing with severe depression, panic attacks, or ulcers because they know they're either going to rot away in a federal penitentiary or end up in a body bag before they ever hit retirement age. You are literally attending a funeral for a coworker every three weeks. When you really break it down, the perks of the lifestyle are incredibly mid. Banging sidepieces, eating expensive steaks at Nuovo Vesuvio, and hanging out in the back room of the Bada Bing is stuff any regular civilian with a decent, legal executive paycheck can do on a weekend and they get to do it without facing a 25 to life RICO indictment or worrying about getting executed in a diner. Plus, their actual day to day "work" has absolutely zero prestige. They aren't pulling off elegant, high level casino heists; they're pulling off petty, low level scumbag operations. They're out here hijacking trucks of DVD players, stealing fiber-optic cables from a construction site, and literally robbing a charity benefit concert for a children's hospital. Their entire business model is just extorting hardworking neighborhood store owners, draining a childhood friend's sporting goods store until he’s completely bankrupt and suicidal, or having a captain like Paulie literally smother a defenseless old lady Minn Matrone with a pillow just to steal her mattress money. It is straight-up, desperate crackhead behavior dressed up in expensive tracksuits. As Christopher famously muttered before the lifestyle completely swallowed him whole, the regularness of life is infinitely better than this garbage. The whole thing is just a big nothing🥲 Well, having said all that, I fvcking enjoy watching The Mafia show😂😂 #TheSopranos #TonySoprano #Paulie #Christopher

Madrid had a horrible defence, their solution was to keep Huijsen a starter, sign Liverpool’s retard, sign Chelsea’s retard and sign Inter’s retard to complete the rebuild.

🇷🇺 This clip is long, but you won’t regret spending 5 minutes watching it. It’s hard to believe that it actually aired on a popular YouTube channel with nearly 900,000 subscribers. This incredible discussion between popular blogger Pavel Ivanov and former deputy Aleksandr Krasnov could almost be characterized as Vatnik thinking vs. “Good Russian” thinking. However, there’s a major “but” that prevents it from being characterized that way. Ivanov: “How do we ensure our security?” Krasnov: “As practice has shown, the first thing you need to do to ensure your security is not to attack your neighbors.”

Liverpool saying this shirt sponsor is potentially the most lucrative in PL history. Mancs and Arsenal fans will argue but Liverpool sell more shirts than anyone other than Real and Barca, are the most watched premier league team ITW and are the most engaged with online ITW too

This Australian's reply to Trump's rant about “NATO not being there for America” is perfect. "Mate. You run a country with 600,000 homeless people sleeping on the street tonight. A country where 40% of adults can't cover a $400 emergency without borrowing money. A country where insulin costs more than a car payment and people are rationing it to survive. A country where medical debt is the number 1 cause of bankruptcy. A country where women are dying in hospital car parks because doctors are too scared of abortion laws to treat a miscarriage. You lock up more of your own citizens than any nation on earth. More than China. More than Russia. More than North Korea. The land of the free has 2 million people in cages, and a quarter of them haven't even been convicted of anything. They're just too poor to make bail. Your life expectancy is going backwards. You're the only developed nation where that's happening. Your infant mortality rate is worse than Cuba's. Your kids do active shooter drills between maths and English while you sell the gunmaker's stock to your mates. Your minimum wage hasn't moved in 15 years. You've got teachers working 2 jobs and veterans sleeping under bridges and you just spent a trillion dollars flattening a country that didn't attack you. And you’ve got a convicted felon, adjudicating raping, paedophile protecting, porn star shagging insurrectionist running the biggest dumpster fire war campaign since the Taliban thanked you very much for losing again. And you're calling Greenland poorly run? Greenland has universal healthcare. Free education. One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world. Nobody goes bankrupt there because they got sick. Nobody dies in a waiting room because their insurance said no. 'NATO wasn't there when we needed them." When exactly was that, champ? September 11? Because NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in history FOR YOU. Soldiers from dozens of countries deployed, fought, bled, and died in Afghanistan FOR YOU. Australia wasn't even in NATO and we still showed up. For 20 years. And you pulled out at 2am without telling anyone and left them to deal with the mess. So maybe before you start calling other countries poorly run, have a look at your own backyard, you spray-tanned aluminium siding salesman. The only thing poorly run in this picture is your f----- mouth."
