Japanese PM urged website developers to apply the urgent PHP security patch tonight. That says a lot about how widely PHP is used in Japan.

35M downloads Japanese location sharing app whoo removed from the App Store in August. In September, Apple terminated their developer account.
They raised about $7M (¥1.1B) just 2 months before.
Imagine raising $7M, losing the App Store overnight, and then having to fight your investors in court.
LinQ, the company behind the iPhone app “whoo,” had its bank deposits provisionally seized by one of its VC investors. The sequence of events appears to be as follows. Would this have been covered if they had subscribed to @UseCorgi’s startup insurance?
・whoo is a social app that shows friends and family members’ real-time locations on a map. It also displays movement paths, dwell times, and remaining phone battery levels, enabling features like “Hey, you’re nearby—let’s meet up.”
・Apple removed all of LinQ’s apps from the App Store and terminated its developer agreement. This was not a routine rejection of an update; it is reasonable to conclude that Apple determined there had been a serious violation.
・There is an unverified claim that, while LinQ stated it did not share precise location data with third parties, it was in fact sending that data to advertising companies. If true, the discrepancy between the company’s public explanation and its actual practices may have been a key factor.
・The VC is alleging a breach of representations and warranties made at the time of investment. Investment agreements typically include warranties such as “we are not in violation of any laws or material contracts.” The VC’s position appears to be that LinQ was already operating in breach of Apple’s terms before the investment, and that the VC would not have invested had it known.
・As a result, there is currently no clear path for whoo to return to the App Store. LinQ is in a legal dispute with one of its investors, and the deposited funds from that investment have been frozen and are unusable.
Adding iPhone Duo support to my guitar tuner app. It’ll be helpful because you can just put the phone somewhere and see the screen while tuning the pegs.
The screen doesn't rotate in this position. Is this part of the phone's specs? Well, maybe because the buttons and camera are at the bottom, it's unlikely people will use or stand it in this position anyway.
I think this half closed landscape position is the most tricky one on iphone duo layout.
On normal iphone people won't do this, but now they can stand the phone like this, it is likely they want to use it in this position.
The height is too small, so you might need a special screen design to support this position.
On iPhone Duo, the tab bar shows icons only. So if your icon needs a label to make sense, it's probably the wrong icon for Duo.
SF Symbols are great, but a generic icon gets confusing without a label.
To solve it, you need to draw your own icon. Luckily, you can just ask your agent to draw a custom vector icon and use it as your TabView icon.

Basic things you should follow to keep your App Store developer account in good standing. Anything else?
- Don't use other apps' names.
- Don't copy other apps' designs.
- Don't hide anything from App Review.
- Don't implement dark pattern paywalls.
- Don't reuse large portions of your codebase to create similar apps.
- Be careful with potentially harmful apps (medical, health, etc.).
- Don't use other companies' trademarks without permission.
- Avoid releasing apps in already saturated niches.
- Don't use misleading screenshots or descriptions.
- Don't manipulate ratings or reviews.
- Don't repeatedly resubmit apps without fixing rejection issues.
- Don't use private APIs or undocumented features.
- Don't mislead users about subscriptions or pricing.
- Don't collect user data without proper disclosure and consent.
If you get the iPhone Duo in late January, you should just wait another 7 months and get the iPhone Duo 2.
You can make money from web apps too.
Not much, but potentially good for diversification.
My alternative revenue streams now:
- X Creator Program
- Android
- Web Apps
- Affiliates (Astro, Postiz. Links in bio)
They're all related and part of the same workflow, so there's not really much extra work.
Grok @bot came up with domain name ideas and purchased one for me.
After giving it some thought, I cancelled my order and entered the lottery at Yodobashi, a major electronics retailer in Japan, hoping to get it on release date (Oct 23) 🙏
