These things I come up with are funny, but also not, in that my brain does this nonstop and there's nothing I can do about it

@lyndonbajohnson a wild story from my year in Austin, or Why You Should Never Get a Ride to HEB With Your Drug Dealer: My next door neighbor was a drug dealer, more than just a little pot. He seemed perpetually fucked up, which made the pistols lying around a bit scary.

He took a liking to me, and, one day offered me a ride with him and his friends to HEB. When people talk about drinking and driving, they usually mean sequentially, not at the same time. Not this guy. We pull out and the bottle pops up. We're getting close to the HEB when

There's a very loud thump. The guys start joking about how we've run over a homeless person. I'm terrified, but it's also hilarious, so I'm laughing and crying, and I even peed a little. I called a cab to get home!

What did @JohnCena say when he met Jane Goodall? The chimp is here!

@Revecca_FFXIV you wished me luck at my song circle. It's going really well! Before the last few months, I hadn't written a conplete song, just verses and snippets. There's no trick to working in structure, you just have to do it, and I did. My circle thinks I have an album worth

Of material inspired by my year in Austin. 😀 I've published short fiction, but in some ways, lyrics are easier for me. I'm super ADHD and the length is less of a challenge. In my prose, I have to curtail my propensity for things like rhyme.

@aaronleetasjan1 speaking of consequences... does anyone realize them when they're very young? It didn't occur to me that I'd spend the rest of my life feeling all those car wrecks and fights every day. Might've made better choices.

What's terrifying is I was completely sober when I started a fight with the linebacker for the Wolverines. I'm doing well now, but this stuff runs in the family, and my deepest fear is that it will break containment. Uncle Harlan's/Uncle Lou's Disease

@NormOrnstein @LarrySabato the birhright citizenship decision, especially Thomas's dissent, lends credence to an observation I made more than 25 years ago that originalism is actually a few distinct ideas. Textualism, the idea that the plain text is dispositive, is distinct from

The historical (and flawed) approach Thomas takes here. I'm not an originalist, but I do think that where the text is clear and definitive, like it is here, it settles the issue. It's just that much of the Constitution isn't like this. Even if Thomas's historical analysis were

Correct, I don't think it matters here, because the text is clear. this is true not just for law, but for texts in general. I find it ironic given the conservative whining about methods of interpretation and such (RELATIVISM!) That it's the most right-wing justice doing this.

@lyndonbajohnson can't find your post on Lander, but wanted to say his views on Palestine, antisemitism, etc, are well within the mainstream of Jewish opinion, especially for liberal Jews like my family. Back in the 60s, about civil rights, my Oma said, "If anyone should
