It conforts me that there are people that get it in this world. Let's hope this means more people will create these beautiful stories. I don't know why pure love became so foreign in modern media.
The characters become the better version of themselves, though loss and adversity, but also through friendship and unexpected alliances, and end up healing some parts of their world.
It doesn't have to be realistic, grim, "grounded". That's why the word "yearning" is so strong in this fandom. It's something to strive for, even if everything doesn't end up the way you wanted, you made a change for you and your people.

Who else noticed how Silvio slowly stopped doing his iconic Godfather impressions after they whacked Big Pussy?
Sil was always the guy cracking everyone up with his "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!" routine, and Pussy would always be the main one laughing and hyping him up.
But the second Pussy takes that swim, the impressions completely vanish. Silvio loses that lighthearted, goofy side of his personality because the reality of clipping his closest friend completely hardens him into a cold, strict consigliere.
The innocence of the old neighborhood crew is totally dead. The only time we get a tiny glimpse of that old Silvio humor again is in the final episodes, when he does those Raging Bull lines right before the war with New York kicks off and he gets shot up outside the Bing. It's like a final, dark callback to the good old days right before the ship completely sinks🥲
