It's a good job Suella Braverman claimed £45,000 for water bills on her parliamentary expenses. If she had failed to declare a ten quid overpayment on Universal Credit, she'd have been in serious trouble then.

There is nothing said, but a respectful nod from this Household Cavalry Guardsman at the end. He knew he had made her day complete. What a great bloke.

Why aren't Boris Johnson, Matt Hancock and Helen Whately not under investigation for mass manslaughter? @andyburnham
The fact that they aren't is deeply unsettling.
Are government ministers immune from prosecution?
Do we have no protection against government misconduct?
My review of last Sunday's Mahler 2 by Pappano and the @londonsymphony & @LSChorus has now been published by @MusicalAmerica ($)

Two fabulous films!
Quite the double bill of 50s 'Nights' on @TalkingPicsTV this evening. First is Jacques Tourneur's Night of the Demon, a marvellous study in terror & dread, then Nights of Cabiria, a bleakly beautiful example of early Fellini.
I do love this channel.

Matt Hancock told the country "we've put a protective ring around care homes"
Untested patients were released from hospital.
43,000 people died in care homes.
The worst government led by the worst Prime Minister at the worst possible time. Never forget.
@BBCBreakfast @GMB
When I saw 'The Story of Billy Budd, Sailor' at last year's @festival_aix it floored me. The chamber reduction by Oliver Leith & direction by Ted Huffman turned Britten's opera into something extraordinarily moving.
Bravo to @GrangeFestival for bringing it to the UK next May.
One day more,
Another day, another destination.
Tonight I'll be at the @BarbicanCentre to hear Antonio Pappano conduct the @londonsymphony in Mahler 2.
I'll be reviewing for @MusicalAmerica
My first live encounter with Mahler 2 was 45 years ago at the Three Choirs Festival in Worcester Cathedral. Charles Groves and the @royalphilorch with Rosalind Plowright and Alfreda Hodgson. It was a shattering experience.
This from me too ⬇️

The Manchester production was a car-crash from an audience point of view: dependent on video to the extent that the live action was meaningless. I expect this staging solves that issue but I couldn't face another 2 hours with such a trite, gratuitously hateful piece of theatre.
Reimagined or what?
“In his third production for the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, director Daniel Kramer draws on the allegorical nature of Richard Wagner’s opera in an opulent staging to portray a society whose social order is not only regressive, but also ideologically charged and dangerous: here, rules become weapons, tradition leads to exclusion, and community to isolation.” Production introduction. Sounds a bit Trumplike !
Going to first night tonight of DIE MEISTERSINGER VON NÜRNBERG. 👍
Tonight I'll be at @HackneyEmpire for the second show of @ETOpera's autumn tour. It's a double bill of Ariadne by Elena Langer and Purcell's Dido and Aeneas.

Sobering read on @MusicalAmerica
I was glad I saw this in Manchester earlier this year. Well with a look if you missed it then.

ALT A theatrical stage set shows a minimalist, modern room with a large, round mirror displaying a close-up of a person's face. The scene includes performers positioned around the room, with some seated and others standing. A significant video screen at the back projects a live feed of the mirror image. The lighting enhances the dramatic atmosphere of the performance.
