I’m super excited to share that I received an @ERC_Research Starting Grant!! The DECODE-PMD project will boost research in my new lab @CRGenomica to unravel how nascent proteins can trigger degradation of their own mRNA during translation.
Apply until 12th of January for the @CRGenomica international PhD programme! There will be 2 positions in my group with a focus on novel mechanisms of mRNA decay in the context of microtubule regulation. Please RT! crg.eu/en/content/training-p…

📢 There are 2 open PhD positions in my group at CRG Barcelona! We are looking for candidates interested in cell fate engineering, gene regulation, and single-cell technologies with experience in both wet/dry labs.
Please help spread the word!
Apply ➡️ crg.eu/en/content/training-p…
Looking forward to sharing and discussing my work @CambridgeRNA club today! See you later!
Tonight! Join us at the Perham Room in the Sanger Building for some excellent talks by @MarkusHopfler and @MuratSunbul_Lab 🧬 Followed by pizza, drinks and socialising where you can check out booths hosted by @CambridgeBiosci and @2BScientific. Thanks @RNASociety and @lexogen!

Lab’s first paper is out 🥳🍾! We reveal how tubulins regulate the stability of their mRNAs via reversible sequestration of TTC5. Bravo A. Batiuk and all coauthors! @MarkusHopfler @AC_Almeida_ @LilaVart @OscarVadas @unige_en @NatureComms

Finally out! We identify the first regulatory step in the tubulin autoregulation pathway: TTC5 is sequestered by free αβ-tubulins to prevent it from ribosome binding. Thanks for a great collaboration with @Ivana_Gasic and Zhewang Lin! nature.com/articles/s41467-0…
Looking forward to being @CambridgeRNA club again!
Ready for this week's RNA Club? This Thursday we'll be hosting @MarkusHopfler and @MuratSunbul_Lab at the @CamBiochem (Sanger Building) for some interesting talks! Hope to see you there! 🍻🍕🧬Thanks to @RNASociety @lexogen @2BScientific @CambridgeBiosci

I’m thrilled to share that I’ll start a lab at the CRG in Barcelona next spring! We’ll investigate how cells tune protein production by selective co-translational mRNA degradation to control protein homeostasis and microtubule dynamics! 😎🧪👇
Thanks everyone for their kind words! Looking forward to exciting science @CRGenomica !
PhD/postdoc positions will be available soon, please get in touch if interested! crg.eu/en/programmes-groups/…
Thanks @BeAScientist for highlighting our recent work on tubulin regulation by selective mRNA decay! nature.com/articles/s41576-0…
Really great collaboration with the lab of @Ivana_Gasic to figure out the mechanisms controlling selective tubulin mRNA degradation!
Lab’s first preprint🥂! Following our passion for #RNA & #cytoskeleton, we find how tubulins control the stability of their encoding mRNAs via reversible repression of TTC5. Abolishing this repression suppresses tubulin mRNA stability and poisons mitosis👇

Great opportunity!
‼️Fully funded postdoc position is open in our lab at the University of Geneva,🇨🇭! Visit gasic.net to learn more about our work, and join us to share our passion for #RNA, #microtubules & #microscopy in beautiful Geneva. Please, spread the word!

A subset of polytopic membrane proteins, such as subunits of the GABAA receptor, remains incompletely inserted when translation is terminated. We describe an essential post-translational step that completes insertion of such proteins. nature.com/articles/s41594-0…

Interested in DNA replication and genome integrity? Please apply!!!
Are you looking for a PhD in #biochemistry, #cellbiology, #molecularbiology, #syntheticbiology and #structuralbiology? @IMPRS_LM you can apply for fully funded #PhD positions and you will have access to state-of-the-art research facilities!
We usually think of mRNAs carrying the information needed to make a protein (the central dogma...). But how can the encoded protein control the fate of its encoding mRNA? 🤔
