More to say about this soon (hopefully in essay form!) but if you think AI writing is labor-saving, or polished, or a useful metric of intellectual or aesthetic judgment, you are a fucking idiot and you should give your job to one of the thousands of adjuncts who knows better

Across many countries, we are witnessing an alarming crackdown: trade unionists being sacked or blacklisted, cultural workers are silenced, and campaigners being harassed or criminalised for their solidarity with Palestine.

So you’re telling me there’s a new Miley album out AND riots in LA with people throwing Lime scooters at cop cars from overpasses, BUT Joshua Clover isn’t alive to post about it.
HOW is the world still turning?

The takeaway here should not be that students are lazy. 18 year olds aren’t the problem. The problem is that universities have failed to make a persuasive case to their “customers” that they are educational institutions rather than companies that dispense “I’m employable” stamps.
