I think, if I worked at @StatsRegulation, I would be very angry by the way I was being played by the anti-university campaigner Paul Wiltshire: telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/06…

Ten years after @HEPI_news last report on comparatively poor education outcomes for boys and men, very little has changed. My foreword suggests this is an unacceptable situation for both men and women

This is a perfect encapsulation of how boys get ignored in education.
The @EduPolicyInst’s new report on educational disadvantage, out today, says girls are 4.5 months AHEAD of boys at age 16.
The policy recommendation? Focus on why girls are not even further ahead.

Nottingham Trent vice-chancellor Edward Peck has been picked as the preferred candidate to be the next Office for Students chair. So barring anything very unusual, it's him. Someone with HE experience as permanent chair this time, then. Makes a change.

NEW: The Education Maintenance Allowance, a weekly cash transfer to disadvantaged students aged 16-19, did not improve their long-run outcomes.
The EMA only provided around 40p of benefits to students for every £1 spent.

Some really important findings in this report (I chair the strategic advisory board for the project) relating to the factors that promote and curtail skills development through various stages/ages in education 👇
The sixth working paper from our 'Skills Imperative 2035' research programme, funded by the @NuffieldFound, will be published tomorrow. This will investigate skills development during childhood.
