NEW BILL ALERT! I introduced A9092 & A9114 to require e-bikes to get registered at the State DMV with license plates. They will also be required to get insurance and inspections. It is time to regulate e-bikes to make our streets safe for everyone and take dangerous batteries out of commission.
In 2023, e-bikes caused more than 7,000 injuries in New York City. There were more than 250 fires from e-bike batteries, killing 18 people and injuring 133. We are going to end this now.

At this point, the three levels of government in the US respond only to the needs of the top 1% of the population while throwing occasional bones to the top 20% (small capitalists, landlords, and high-paid workers).
