Liberia latest looking for Equity Stakes in Mines as Part of Mining Code Overhaul, expected in 3 Months.
Gov't created National Mining Company of Liberia (NMCL) will hold stakes of 10–15%, structured as a free-carried state equity, in projects, with long-term target of 25%.--current law already allows the state to hold up to 15%, but was not enforced.
Nothing yet on if it will be retroactive-- ArcelorMittal just paid $200MM for renewal & rail rights in January, w/ no mention of new terms.
