I just got a response from the National Guard, which says troops “are directed not to monitor or secure polling locations” and is “addressing this specific instance.”
The D.C. Board of Elections says it’s asking the National Guard to avoid standing near D.C.’s ballot drop boxes, which opened today, in the wake of video footage showing them near a box in Foggy Bottom: washingtonsun.com/metro/nati…

Two of these flew over my building in Logan Circle yesterday afternoon. They were flying low and LOUD.
The new helipad on the White House South Lawn was christened today as a U.S. Marine Corps VH-92A "Patriot" departed as 'Marine One', marking the first operational use from the site. The helipad has a heated concrete base topped with granite plates, with the presidential seal engraved into the surface. Sikorsky, the VH-92A's manufacturer, funded the roughly $6 million project, a contribution tied in part to damage the aircraft's exhaust and rotor wash had caused to the lawn.

Carsharing was a big deal at peak 15 years ago. But its niche keeps getting smaller, stuck between ride-hailing (Uber & Lyft) that's better for single trips, and all-day rentals (Enterprise, Budget, etc) that are more economical for anything longer than a couple hours.
It looks like Free2move, one of the last free-floating carsharing services in D.C., is ending service on September 15. ZipCar still exists, but in much diminished form. Years ago D.C. had Car2go, which had hundreds of Smart cars around town, but it shut down in 2019.

🤷‍♂️ It’s .3m or an avg. 7 min walk which is a close urban subway walk zone. Most people walk that distance to/from their home station daily. The station is definitely an easy and great way to visit the Wharf. Or walk from L’enfant which is a few mins more.
What are you talking about? The absence of a metro station at the wharf is the worst thing about the wharf.
