Herm Edwards: “You play to tie the game.”
Is there a list of teams down 14 late who scored and went for two and missed and then scored again and went for two and missed again and lost by two?

It’s not complicated to understand nerd. It’s just unfucking successful way more often than not. Thus invalidating the idea as it’s constantly presented
My head hurts.

The success rate of PAT is 94-96%. Success of a 2 pt conversion is 48-50%. Kick the ball, go down 7, stop them, score TD, kick the PAT. tie the game. its smarter and statistically more likely.
Josh Downs requesting a trade was definitely one of the biggest NFL stories I can ever remember.
Nobody produces storylines like the NFL. Just this week:
🏈Monday: Jay-Z announced as headline performer for the Super Bowl halftime show.
🏈Tuesday: Colts trade Quenton Nelson to Seattle, DeForest Bucker to San Francisco.
🏈Wednesday: Chiefs sign Justin Tucker, Colts WR Josh Downs requests trade.
🏈Thursday: Titans trade Jeffery Simmons to Bears for two first-round picks.
🏈Friday: Panthers fire defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero and defensive pass-game coordinator Jonathan Cooley.
Sunday, and the NFL trade deadline, await.
Did some good things, did not some not so good things, but ultimately, self-awareness was probably his biggest strength.
I do think “just get to overtime” is kind of a feeling of comfort that does plays into this, when it’s still only 50/50 in reality.
Obviously it doesn’t matter, but what in the world was the pass interference penalty on Carolina there?

UPDATE: Alex Moore’s crew has been switched out of SNF and will officiate Patriots-Dolphins instead. Shawn Hochuli’s crew has been moved to cover the primetime game in Washington. Officiating sources say the switch is more about optics rather than a disciplinary action
I know I for one am extremely disappointed that Washington at Nebraska, two teams who have just stacked good win after good win this season, is unlikely to impact the playoff.
People said no one outside the top four would ever win a 12-team playoff? I never heard that. It’s certainly not true. But the fact that it isn’t true still wasn’t a good reason to expand.
10 years ago today (2016): A home loss to North Carolina had ended CFP hopes for Florida State, but the Seminoles were hoping to take down Clemson in a primetime clash. Dalvin Cook’s four touchdowns had FSU in control, but a late Deshaun Watson TD pass wins it for Clemson, 37-34.
Why are we all bent out of shape by BYU-Utah at Noon, Alabama-LSU at 3:30 and Miami-Notre Dame at 7:30?
A) ESPN sets the times. Birmingham just cashes the checks.
B) ESPN would absolutely love for LSU to be in the playoff and play at home on Friday night.
Lane knows all this, or course. Part just playing to his fanbase and part his usual narcissism.
Lane Kiffin was "shocked" when he learned LSU-Alabama wouldn't be played at night. But his surprise quickly faded.
"If someone thinks the SEC wants us to win this year after what's been going on, they must have just been on Mars the last four months."

20 years ago today (2006): A long trip to Corvallis is too much for Pete Carroll’s USC Trojans and their 1100-day Pac-10 win streak. A 10-win season for Oregon State is highlighted by the 33-31 upset, as the Beavers stop a last-second two-point play to avoid blowing a 33-10 lead.

It’s always been the third quarter. Maybe this is what Joe and Troy are fighting about
