At least the Sixers proved they’re still good enough to lose in the second round! #TrustTheProcessOfTankingToBeGoodEnoughToLoseInTheSecondRound

Goes to show how many West Coast games I stay up for that I'm hearing Ryan Rowland-Smith @hyphen18 call the Puerto Rico-Panama game in the @WBCBaseball and I think I discovered the next great announcer. Guess the @Mariners already figured that out.

Tomorrow is the last day to sign up to hear me talk Baseball and Economics to the Philadelphia Council for Business Economics at the Philly Fed building. FYI there's a (cheaper) virtual option available too if anyone just wants to watch remotely. pcbe.org:8080/pcbe.nsf/DocVi…

Something fun and different - on Thu 10/16 I'm presenting about baseball for an economic group I'm on the board of. It's called "Baseball and Economics" and it's at the Philly Fed. You can register to attend in person or virtually. pcbe.org:8080/pcbe.nsf/DocVi…

It's a really exciting opportunity to do something different, since it's a rare intersection where my day job and my night job overlap. Let me know if you have any questions!

I'm going to talk about how economics teaches us about baseball, and how baseball can even teach us about economics. I'll be covering some stuff that I've written about publicly over the years, but framing it all in the context of economic theory.

Are either of these two sufficiently focused on tail risks?

We use @Matt_Swa 's arb projections for our payroll estimates. Whether it ends up being more or less can be determined by several factors. But this model is a great starting point and has proven to be very accurate. You can see his full list at MLBTR ... mlbtraderumors.com/2024/10/p…

Thanks for noticing how early it was!! I am tired!
As early as I've ever seen it! Red Sox have three arb guys on here: Tanner Houck - $4.5MM Jarren Duran - $4.9MM Kutter Crawford - $3.5MM I've updated this in my 2025 projections tab which now stands at ~$176MM for next season.
