It was #OTD that the 2003 season came to an end as the Marlins beat the #Cubs 7-3 to advance to the World Series. Neither starting pitcher had it, as Kerry Wood gave up a 3 run homer in the 1st and Mark Redman gave up a 2 run homer to Wood in the 2nd and a 2 run homer to Moises Alou in the 3rd to put the Cubs up 5-3. Marlins manager Jack McKeon pulled Redman and went to Brad Penny and Josh Beckett, while Dusty Baker never even warmed up Matt Clement or Carlos Zambrano and left Wood in too long and went to his beleaguered bullpen as Wood and the pen gave up 6 unanswered runs as the Cubs magical season came to an end
If we start Assad tonight, we probably win Game 2 and have the pitching advantage in Game 3. Instead we are stuck with this.
Kevin Gausman starts tonight with the Cubs’ season on the line.
His left shoulder still is not 100%, but after testing it in a pregame bullpen yesterday, it’s “good enough to go out there and give it everything I got. So that’s what I’m gonna do.”

#MNTwins broadcaster Cory Provus was talking about a Twins fan battling terminal cancer when Jake Burger launched one to center.
And then Provus hit us with:
“Swing and a drive by Castellanos…”
He followed it with the rest of the call, creating one of the most surreal home-run moments imaginable.
