In an effort to address ongoing public safety and traffic concerns in the Old Sacramento Waterfront, the Sacramento Police Department, in partnership with the Downtown Sacramento Partnership (DSP), has developed a Traffic Management Plan (TMP) to improve safety and enhance the overall experience for residents, visitors, and businesses. Beginning this weekend, the TMP will be implemented every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10:00 p.m. through the evening. During these hours, motorists will continue to have access to 2nd Street from both Capitol Mall and I Street. However, vehicle access beyond 2nd Street into the Old Sacramento Waterfront will be restricted. The Old Sacramento Parking Garage and Tower Bridge Garage will remain open and fully accessible. Visitors are encouraged to utilize these garages, as well as other nearby public parking facilities, when traveling to Old Sacramento. Pedestrians will still be able to access open businesses; and vehicles parked within the TMP will be able to leave. The Sacramento Police Department will continue to assess the needs of the area and adjust staffing and enforcement strategies as appropriate. Ensuring that those who seek to take advantage of this area to commit crimes are held accountable remains a top priority.
