The preventable death of Nurul Amin Shah Alam is deeply disturbing and a dereliction of duty by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection must answer for how and why this happened.

Congrats to Team @usahockey and Tage Thompson! 👏

Great to catch up with @MayorSeanRyan today at City Hall! Mayor Ryan has been a longtime supporter & advocate for #UBuffalo since his days in the New York State Legislature. I look forward to continuing our partnership with him and the great City of Buffalo.

The intersection at Hertel Ave. & Military Rd. is now open in all directions.
Thank you to the Department of Public Works for getting this area operational within 48 hours of the major water main break.
I’m relieved that Mr. Huseynov has been released and reunited with his family. His detention should never have happened. It underscores that the federal government’s enforcement actions continue to sweep up people who pose no threat and are contributing members of our community.
Breaking: Shovgi Huseynov, the UB researcher detained by ICE after making a wrong turn onto the Peace Bridge, has been freed.
He posted a video Saturday saying he was back home with his wife and children in Buffalo.

Due to dangerously cold temperatures, and for the safety of our sanitation workers, trash and recycling pickup is canceled for Friday, January 30 in the City of Buffalo.
Today, I signed my first executive order as Mayor — which was to formally reaffirm what Buffalo has long believed: our City government should never be used to intimidate or target people based on where they’re from.
By drawing a clear line, we strengthen public safety, protect due process, and keep Buffalo taxpayers from funding federal civil immigration enforcement while continuing to fully enforce criminal law and comply with all legal obligations.
⚠️ Travel Advisory for City of Buffalo in Effect ⚠️
