As Trump would put it, thank you for your attention to this matter!

What just happened in Serbia is (almost) unprecedented: a non-party student-led movement crushed an incumbent semi-authoritarian party in national election. What happens next may be wholly new. 1/6
Vučić made clear he was waiting for the students to fail so that he can seize the opportunity.
But pressure on the SNS may already be growing from within. His potential comeback could depend on how the presidential election goes.

Replying to @JasminMuj
presidential elections still coming up, aren't they? You think Vucic's SNS is counting on a victory there to keep the country in a gridlock and block any reform.

I do not at foreclose the possibility of various sorts of political shenanigans even after Vucic’s concession but this extraordinary result in Serbia is what happens when people show up: in the streets, at the ballot box. That’s the lesson. If you care about democracy, show up.
Pada zvezda padalica
Pada soko siva ptica
Pada osmeh sa mog lica
I sneg pada pre Božića
Pada čovek posle pića
Pada duša od umora
I noć padne kad je zora

It took Vučić a minute. People at the SNS headquarters are joking about being overpowered by a colorful revolution.
Another voting line in Čačak - a betting point which became a polling station by accident - but it's just as packed.

Bravo @andrej_cvetic za napor i sve čestitke za doktorat!
Ова е секако изненадување
In other news, Iliana Iotova, the incumbent President, has a minimum edge on main challenger & ex-cartaker PM Andrey Gyurov in the first round of the presidential elections, according to an exit poll. The runoff could be more interesting than expected.
That's significantly lower (900K votes) than what Rumen Radev's Progressive #Bulgaria got in the parliamentary elections.
Flip side: a mere 16% had gone to the polls as of 16h. Compare to nearly half of all eligible voters in #Serbia. Could be a historic low. Where Studentska lista (and to a lesser extent the SNS) succeeded in mobilizing voters, Iotova and Gyurov's teams only rallied a voting base.

More than 56% by 4pm - 4 hours before polls close - according to CRTA's estimates. #Serbia
With nearly half of #Serbia's voters having gone to the polls (or more depending on your reading of the electoral roll) the wave in Belgrade's Mirijevo neighborhood hadn't subsided as of 1pm. One lady told me she had waited for four hours but didn't regret it for a second.

Never have I thought I could risk hitting people in the streets while driving because they have to queue on the lanes with the sidewalk space in front of a polling station running out.
Belgrade just gave me that experience.

An old Serbian friend, who was active with "Otpor" in the year 2000, writes about the atmosphere in Belgrade: "Euphoria. Everyone I know set off to vote at 7:00 a.m. The cafés next to the polling stations are packed. It smells of victory." Turnout, it seems, will be huge.

Remember when Argentina declared war on Nazi Germany on March 27, 1945?
